I am a middle schooler and I need to choose one to take in 8th grade. My brother said to take Spanish, but I'm not sure. I also live in the northern United States, near the border of Canada. So, What do you guys think?

French if you want to expand your vocabulary and understand signs in Quebec.
Spanish if you want a more useful language.

I would go with Spanish because A.) I choose French for H.S. and regretted it. In the US the population of people speaking Spanish is increasing and more foreign countries seem to use it (versus Canada, and some places in Europe and Africa for French ). I live on the border near Canada too, and enough people speak english to the point where you won't really need it.

If you live near the Canadian border it would be much easier to take french. But if you want something different then take Spanish. It's not a hard language to learn. Believe me.

You can take Spanish because it's easier. But if you want to take a language that's very interesting and beautiful sounding and more challenging to learn then take French.
