Dell Announced today they are partnering with Ubuntu and later this month you'll be able to order a Dell PC with Linux.
If you could order a computer that spyware couldn't touch, virus's couldn't hurt, and just worked, would you?

If I could order such a computer, and it actually supported the vast majority of programs out there, especially games (Linux doesn't) then sure I would order it. Linux however does neither of the first two things you said, you CAN get spyware and you CAN get viruses, although granted your chances are exponentially lower. Still, simply running anti-virus and anti-spyware will do the same. As for it "just working" well that is a matter of opinion, but I have never had any problems with Windows in the 4 computers and 5 different Windows OSs I've used.

I think your average Linux user would rather build their own box than buy a Dell.

I already use it, using it right now, in fact. Home built, not on a Dell though.
