All institutions of mankind use scare tactics to control the populace

The short answer is that Christians believe that the ends justify the means when our eternal souls are on the line. Paul said, "I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save them." Also, I should add that Christianity does not currently fit the definition of a "cult", and if you were after a real answer you would do better to phrase your question with more neutrality. (Note: I am not a Christian>)

I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't say Christianity uses 'scare tactics' to get us to join their 'cult'. Kind of crude wording, isn't it? You're making it harder and harder for us to defend our position when you sound like every other Christian-hating juvenile insult-slinger. Though some Christians can be obnoxious and rude, it's certainly not all of them. Nor is Christianity a cult.

O.K. I wouldn't 'waist' your time, I would just 'waste' it instead. Christianity is not a cult. However, Cults have used christian tatics as a face, to haul in people. Jim Jones is a perfect example of this. These are people who cannot think for themselves, they and their families are threatened with punishment, fear, torture and face even death. Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Muslims are victims.

I don't know. Perhaps it is because they do not have a true understanding of what Christ did for us. Or perhaps they think the "you will go to hell if you Dont believe" is more important than what you "get" when you Do believe. I did not become a Christian to avoid hell. I became a Christian because I saw God and Jesus as someone I wanted to be best friends with. They have more than proven my faith. I am greatly blessed.

"waist", "since"? You're wasting our time because you are generalizing. "A cult is a negative term applied to a religion or community of belief that is regarded as illegitimate, heretical, or far outside mainstream beliefs. Thus, it is a statement of opinion; many groups consider themselves "sects," no group considers itself to be a "cult."

If you are referring to hellfire, Jehovah's Witnesses do not preach the concept of an eternally burning hell. When we die we are simply dead, non-existent. Whether or not we will be resurrected is up to Jehovah. Jehovah does not want us to serve him out of fear, but out of love. The choice is ours.

And we are not a cult. Cults have human leaders. Jesus is the head of the congregation.

Because you've caught on to kool-aid

I don't ever try to get anyone to join my cult since I don't belong to one. Nor do I try to get them to join my religion.

I hope this wasn't a waste of your time and that it made sense to you.
