I stop and get turtles off the road, pick up birds who've slammed into windows that sort of thing and I am guessing that in spite of many of our religious and philosophical differences a lot of us like to help those in need.
How about you?

Yes, dogs, cats, squirrels. And yes people also.
Started when I was a kid. My favorite saying was.. "But Daaad, it followed me home!"

I am some what of a rescuer. I feed the feral cats, the birds, the squirrels and what ever other wild animals happen to come by for the food I put out.
I did have the very great honor of rescuing two hummingbirds. One had flown into a spider web and fell to the ground stunned. I carefully picked it up (they are so very very tiny and fragile), I very gently washed the web from the bird and left it in a box with a bowl of sugar water. After about an hour or so it was well enough to move over to the bowl and drink by itself and shortly after that went on its way.
The other one had entered the store where I worked at the time. I got a large towel and held it taut and gently guided the hummingbird to an open window, and it flew out and free.

I cant help myself,I need to help others too.Its gotten me into trouble when some people look for those who will enable them,I have had to learn to sometimes shut certain people out as it brakes my heart. Some just want me to take care of them, all the Ferrell cats in town are in my yard because I feel so sorry for them. They are having litters of the cutest kittens,I'm going to have to call the animal rescue soon,so these cats can get fixed. It started for me as a young child.I do get really burdened for people.I wish I had a huge home to help others,my husband nearly left me as I took in a man that was mentally ill and homeless and suicidal.I let him sleep on our couch, because the shelter had no bed for him.My husband just doesn't understand me.The guy was not homicidal, and my husband is about 2 feet taller then him.Plus he was a man from our church,so all I can do is pray.

I trained with the fire department to be a rescuer first responder but I have been out of it.
My Hubby picks up turtles all the time and brings them to the river on the way home.

Yes, but not so much animals as people. I want to help people. Just the other day in line for fast food I offered to pray for the woman ahead of me who was in pain. I see people in pain and the Lord gives me compassion for them and a way to reach out and touch their life.

Yes indeed! Like you I love animals and respect them!
Humans too of course - it's important that we have love and compassion in our hearts for everyone.
