You have erroneously construed the "in God's image" concept.
God willed that we exist in His image so that He might reveal Himself to us through His perfect love and righteousness. By “in His image,” I mean, we have personalities and power, we can embrace wisdom and knowledge, we recognize justice, and we can love. Most importantly, we can understand to some extent the nature of God.

Man is made in the image of God. God is not made in the image of man. Because man sins against the image, he must be reconciled to His creator. This reconcilliation comes through Jesus who is that creator. God is the savior, and the savior became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1 & 14).

Well if there is a God, he would be perfect, right? If God is perfect, first of all, whose better than him that would save him? And second, what would he be saved from? People are not perfect. By "in God's image", we sometimes resemble God. It's been explained to me like this: It's like a broken mirror. When you look in it, some of your face is over in one spot, and some of your face is in another spot. When people look at you, they sometimes see that you resemble God, but not always. I hope that makes sense.

Man IS not in God's image. Man WAS however created in God's image. When Adam and Eve chose to not follow God but allowed themselves to go against what God had told them, they gave up their perfection. It is only through Jesus that the perfection can be reclaimed.

Jesus, created all things seen and unseen. As the only creator, the creator gets to set the rules. One of the rules the creator made clear, is all man must be born again. Christians are just reaffirming the words of the creator, ye must be born again,

When god does something, it is justified by his mysterious ways. It is only when man does exactly the same thing that it becomes a sin.
We just need to get some mysterious ways.
BTW, don't even most fundies laugh at people who think that "image" means that god has a physical body and man's body looks like god's body.?

Being made in the image of God clearly doesnt make us perfect. It has given us aspects of his personality but we are not him and he is not us. We need to be saved because unlike him, we have fallen in sin and need to be redeemed from it because the wages of sin is death.

Exactly Man is in God's IMAGE (i.e., physical features) - has nothing to do with whether we sin or not
