I live at the base of Pikes Peak and I want to hike Barr Trail to the Summit and back. Right now, I am training for the Bolder Boulder so I average about a four mile run a day with some hills and speed work. What else should I do to train for the great ascent? I have access to the YMCA.

I'm triaining for Bolder too!! And I did my first 14er last year. My only suggestion is to do several smaller day hikes in the foothills (the flatirons in Chatauqua Park are perfect) carrying a heavy pack to give you a chance to practice with your equipment and energy snacks plus train on steep terrain.

It will help to do hill work. Are you planning on hiking or running the marathon. I think the marathon is sold out for this year. It took less than a day to reach the limit.
