Have you heard the line: the greatest thing Satan ever did was to make man believe he didn't exist?

Believing in Satan makes you want to be on the side of God.

Yes, if you believe in God you can't have one without the other. They are like milk and cookies. Besides think of all the bad horrible things in the world. Who else would we blame for all the murders (ETC) if not Satan and evil? People? In this society blame is something to be pushed around. "The devil made me do it." If there was no devil, no evil, we would have to take responsibility for our actions and God knows that won't happen.

I think the question you might ask yourself is, is the bible true? You must believe all or none of it. If you DO believe it, believe all of it. The bible gives great detail on Satan. If you do not believe in satan, you are rejecting the bible, which is the word of God. I would recommend reading the bible and seeking the truth honestly and it will be revealed to you. Good luck!

It's not necessary to believe in Satan.

Because satan is spoken of in the bible, and a person who wants to know God, and be born again, needs to read and understand the bible is His word.

interestingly (alot of people don't know this)

there is no devil in Judaism, or the old testament.

there is a "the satan" or "adversary" but this is merely an angel working under God's will, not evil, or not in opposition to God.

It is neccesary because there is satan in this world and so is God. satan comes from sin such as stealing, killing, ect. God is love; therefore, He hates sin.

If you believe in the christian teachings and follow christianity, it says that satan exists. If you believe your bible, then yes, it it necessary to believe in satan.

Personally, I see him for the Sumarian folktale he was originally created to be, but then, I don't believe in the christian faith, either.
