What is the aux button on the stock focus radio for?

I just bought a new focus and noone could tell me what it was for.

The same radio is used for a wide variety of Ford vehicles, including vans and SUV's. Some of them are equipped with factory DVD systems, which would play through the stock radio using the AUX button. In a Focus it doesn't really do anything, but you can purchase an after-market adapter that will allow you to use it with your iPod or MP-3 player, or another external source.
