I picked out a stucco color to give to the stucco guy so he could apply it on my house. As he started to apply the color i told him that the color did not match the color on the color chart. He told me that the sun was drying it out to fast but the color will go in and come back out. After a couple of days i notice that the color was still not the same. So, I called the company where he got the product from and explain to them what he did. Well, mr. stucco guy did not follow the direction and he decided to do it his way. Leaving my house looking like a big banana peel. So i told him that i am not paying him until he fix the problem. And he is saying that he will put a lien on my house. Can he do that if he did not do the work right.

Yes he can. If you have a problem with the work, you need to file a claim against him. Unless the stucco starts cracking and falling off, you may have to live with the color or paint over it.

Believe it or not, in most states it's relatively easy to put a lien on anyone's house for no apparent reason whatsoever. It has been used as revenge on neighbors, acquaintances, etc.

Whether a guy that can't read directions actually has the know how to put a lien on your house is another question. Get a lawyer, at least consult one.

Unfortunately he can. If it were me I would stick to my guns and file a claim immediately...there's too many jerks out there who know that they can get away with murder.
