I'd really appreciate some advice. I'm currenty in Marrakesh, Morocco...We noticed on the play back that the pictures were very very very grainy and the color was off- we fused with it for a little bit, removing the battery etc. and Now it won't even turn on. Do you have any ideas..This is a trip of a lifetime and i'm heartbroken that I might now be able to document it.

Thank you, very much!

Grainy pictures can be caused by having the ISO setting cranked up too high.
The color can be caused by having the white balance set wrong.
The camera not turning on could be caused by a dead battery.
But having all 3 of these things go wrong sounds very probleatic indeed. It also sounds too complicated to trouble shoot and repair yourself.
Personally, I'd keep at it as a hobby project for a few minutes each night and buy a cheap replacement camera for the rest of the trip.

Maybe you have the ASA (Or ISO) settled too much high, try to set it in 400 like the ASA of the Konica Minolta Centuria conventional films. This is why the ASA 400 is for All-Purpose-Photos. If the location is dark try with a higher ASA, if there's too much light, try with a lower ASA like 200 or even 100, but personally I recommend to leave it in 400.

The other issue with the battery, try discharging and re-charge it again about three or four times, then completely charge it for about eight hours, then install it properly onto the camera, turn it on, set the ASA to 400 and try to take the pics again.

If the problem persist, contact your nearest Canon dealer and ask for a battery that fits well for your Rebel.
