I honestly would like to understand what it is that they want from the US. Is it health care? Money? What?

It just blows my mind that someone who is here illegally wants this government to do something for them. The only thing our government should do for them is put them on an un-airconditioned junky old bus and ship them back where they came from.

I see now that they want to be "legal". Do they think they don't need to go through the same process that other immigrants went through to be here legally? I wonder how many of them have even tried to get legal citizenship.

The reason why I'm not too sympathetic towards them is because they are here illegally and EXPECT and DEMAND their rights. How insane is that? Other people who do something illegal in this country suffer the consequences of the law - why shouldn't they?

It is absurd for someone to come here with a sense of entitlement period. I agree. I have very little sympathy. We as Americans have a right and a responsibility to protect our country. We would be stupid if illegal aliens didn't bother us. I am not talking about immigrants here. I am talking about illegals. If someone is here ILLEGALLY, they are stealing. They are dishonest and they should be treated as the criminals that they are. If it becomes protocol for America to accept these people and let them stay here, word will get around. And the result will be that United States citizens....from those whose heritage is original Native American to people who can trace their lineage back to the Mayflower to immigrants who have been granted their citizenship yesterday.... Will be surrounded by "Illegals"....who are lying about who they are. I am not okay with that. I do not understand how ANY American would be. What are they demanding today? Who fu@&ing cares? Send them HOME.

I think we need to adopt MEXICO'S IMMIGRATION LAW?

Mexico has a great law for a rational immigration policy that Americans need to seriously consider. By the way, it's very similar to most developed countries.

Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States, has much to teach us about how to handle immigration.

Under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien.

As the politicians seek to bring U.S. law in line with foreign legal norms, it's noteworthy that no one has argued that the United States look at what Mexico might teach us about how to solve our illegal-immigration problem.

Mexico has a single, streamlined law, seeking to ensure that foreign visitors and immigrants are:
In the country legally.
Have the means to sustain themselves economically.
Not destined to be burdens on society.
Of economic and social benefit to society.
Of good character, with no criminal record.

The law also seeks to ensure that:
Immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor. Foreign visitors do not violate their visa status.
Foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics.
Foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are
imprisoned or deported.
Foreign visitors violating terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported.
Anyone who aids in illegal immigration is imprisoned.

Wow, to think that a country sets laws to protect it's citizens and it's country from foriegners.

They want our government to continue to turn it's back on the fact they're breaking the LAW! Having lived in Mexico, there's NO WAY this would be allowed there! Illegals are promptly deported. Or if they resist the Army doesn't thing twice about shooting them.

While I am very progressively liberal, this crap boggles my mind. You have broken the law, and now you want the protection of the law. You have disrespected our country, but now you want our country to respect you.
Unfortunately, there are many people who cloud this issue with false statistics and a whole myriad of smoke and mirrors. It is sad because in the end, an illegal act is an illegal act until it is changed legislatively.
So either lobby, write your legislator, or shutup. We owe you nothing!

"The only thing our government should do for them is put them on an un-airconditioned junky old bus and ship them back where they came from."

Gee. Wouldn't be the general attitude toward them that they might be upset about, would it?

Just curious, do you say this about Canadians that come over illegally? If so, how can you view other people this way? Can't they at least have air conditioning? Or a nice ride?

My dad came over legally. Everyone else can. But that doesn't mean we have to treat "illegals" like sh*t.

Amnesty. This is about pushing through another Amnesty bill, like the last one, only this time, there are 11-15 million (and counting) illegals in line for it, not a mere 3 million. If they became citizens, they would constitute a demographic cohort second only to the 'Baby Boom' generation in voting power. The Democrats hope they'll mostly vote thier way. The Republicans eye the floodtide of cheap labor anticipation of a third amnesty would attract.

5 thumbs down so far, the truth really must hurt.

The pro illegal lobby has been repeatedly telling them that they have all the rights of US citizens, and breaking the law is their right because the country of their origin failed them

They are demanding that we reward them for their criminal actions!

All they deserve is a one-way bus ticket back home! Let's give that to them.

They just want the good life and they want you to pay for it.

You owe it to them because their government told them you owe it to them and the US Government adopts policies and procedures that proves them right.
