I might as well say-its ok to murder poor people, after all they are in a better place. Let God judge the murders! Ridiculous.
But you make one valid point: Liberty vs. Religion. That was the point of the establishment clause in our constitution (ya know, the state or feds shall not endorse nor infringe upon religion). Thmoas Jefferson and others were clear that without liberty offered to people to choose to follow their own religion than no government forced religion would work and would just cause grave injustices as it had in England (which had an established state church-Anglican). Thus, in America our religion flourishes so much better than in other countries because we put liberty on a pedastal and do not force people to believe one way or the other.
However, we as a people have laws which are not religions. These laws are valdily enforced by the state as the act of the people's will thru their legislators. Abortion is wrong on so many levels not just a "faith" based one. In the interest of full disclosure I am a devout Catholic and will fight to the end to save the unborn from the executioners of abortion. But I can argue an atheist that abortion is wrong as well as a protestant pro-birth control anti-God Christian. And I will win. We outlaw murder, we can outlaw abortion. It is wrong and it kills innocents by the thousands. What possible justification for abortion is there? Pray that you may have a conversion of heart and mind my friend.
God Bless

Everyone here knows how you get pregnant
if you don't want or can not afford a baby then have the since that God gave a goose, and either don't have sex or at least us protection.
It reeks me to no end when a pregnant woman blames the man...(if women are equal and it is your body then learn to say no or use protection).
The Father of the Baby has no right in deciding if the woman gets an abortion (after all it is her body)
So if it is your body then take total responsibility for your own body.
And if you decide to murder a human being because you were too weak to say no then don't ask stupid questions like "why are women considered the weaker sex"?
You can not have it both ways are you going to blame the man when you stand before God and God asks you why you murdered your baby?

God did not give us the right to take the life of an innocent child just because we don't want it, in the womb or out. The child in a better place? The aborted child is in the grave or some garbage dump somewhere, dead and awaiting the resurrection. The mothers that aborted these children will one day face the final Judge and give account as to why their lives were more important than the lives of their children. I can also picture each aborted child facing is own mother and saying " Why did you kill me Momma"? Why? The answer to your question: God did not give us free will to use as an excuse to commit murder.

Free will gives you the right to make your choice...which you have. It does not give you permission to break God's laws without consequences however. Although you may think that the child is in a far better place...and that may well be true....did you ever think about what that child might have done if allowed to live and grow up and make his or her contribution to the world. Whose wife, sister, husband, brother, father, mother, aunt, uncle etc. would be missed? What if it had been you? Have you not made any contribution to this world and to the lives of others.
Christians are generally anti-abortion because it is clearly against God's law to take the life of another without justification. I find it very difficult to understand how you can pick and choose those commandments or guidelines of Christ that you believe or do not believe. Only God knows the potential of a human being even before he or she is born. I don't see that we have the right to change His decisions simply because it is Our will.

At least most who call themselves Pro-choice(Theist and Atheist),do not believe that the fetus amounts to anything more that a mass of unwanted tissue and have no problem with abortion(no life..not murder) and further Atheists who are Pro-choice do not believe in a personal God anyway(no-judgement)
But you are an enlightened Christian that understands that the fetus is a living being and further has a soul and spirit, yet embrace the notion, that we as Christians, should not speak out against this practice?

Pro choice defined by you "how are we willing to take away anothers' free will?" Is the fetus not given free will as well? They passed a law that they have to first pierce the brain before suctioning out the unwanted fetus. It has been proven that w/ out doing so, the fetus suffers pain & trauma during that short time of what life it has & also it defines that it is not a live birth since the brain is pierced. Before, they just suctioned them out & discarded them. They were tecnically still alive for quite some time before actually dying. Pro choice you ask? It is only God's choice.

1. I am very proud of you for not following the pack on this issue. You exemplified the character and understanding that christians SHOULD be known for, rather than the judgmental bible pumping that most ARE known for.
2. It seems that in order to be pro-choice, you have to give up being a part of the church. Most consider it a sin that they have to personally take part in eliminating. They don't believe in the free-will of a mother to decide what's best for her. They believe that choice should be taken away.
As for why they do this, well, they only like parts of the bible, the ones that agree with their views.

I'm sure your not.
God did give us free will and as with anything each person can decide what they want to do. Often, though, I feel many women getting abortions aren't fully informed as to what they are aborting. People do need to speak up and make sure others realize they are killing an seperate and independant life, not simply some tissue.
We, as a society, Christan and non-Christian alike, seem to have no problem declaring certain decisions, reached by free will, as wrong and evil but for some reason to even insinuate that abortion is wrong is unpardonable.

The child is growing and therefore, alive. He or she has the capacity to act, therefore even if it is only on a very rudimentary level. If the baby was dangerous, like cancer I'd say yeah, it would be probably be right for the woman to kill the cancer, but the baby is a person too, just like she is. It DOES have a will-- afterall, it is growing. By the same token, EVERY human being should be allowed to use their free will, for THAT is what is right. G-d gave all of us free will to do what is right or to do what is wrong and gave all of us the ability to act... to learn and to grow, even from the womb. That's why I think there needs to be godly education about this, so that mothers will not do anything rash out of fear, selfishness or because of feelings of guilt. From what I see, these emotions block true choice.

first of all free will is allowed by God- but in free will there are His choices and ours. You are right the mothers and doctors will be judged for abortions, however, I really believe we will too- those who call themselves children of God , In the book of proverbs it says that we are to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves- infants in the womb can't. Also Ezekial says that we are to warn them of their sinful ways, because if we don't we will be held accountable- if we warn them and they do not heed- then they are held accountable. God is the giver of life- about the babies being better off in heaven, we who are Christians know that to be a fact for all of us, so why don't we legalize murder for people outside the womb, and then it could possibly get us their sooner- that theory doesn't make sense does it?
