Unfortunately, Honey, it sounds like something is "wrong with you". Your crying spells concern me, as does your "pessimism". It's very likely that your Mom is right and you are depressed. Depresssion makes you feel "over stressed" and overwhelmed, and you probably feel like you're having trouble dealing with everyday things sometimes. Are you having trouble sleeping (too much or too little)? Are you eating well, or have you lost your appetite or, conversely, are you eating too much and gaining weight? Do you ever feel hopeless, or have trouble with racing thoughts?
You said that you're "usually a happy go lucky" person, so you've had a personality change. That's a warning sign. But it could be something other than depression; bipolar disorder can have these symptoms, and so can anxiety disorders and many other things. It may be biochemical- your brain chemistry has probably gone haywire. This can be caused by a situation or a loss that you're having trouble dealing with. But the bottom line is that you have symptoms that indicate some type of pyschiatric disorder. These are very serious. I don't know- you may even have had thoughts of hurting yourself. But the good news is that you don't have to feel this way. There are many new medications out there now; there are new antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anti-anxiety meds. The first step, though, is to get an accurate diagnosis, which means that it's extremely important that you find a good psychiatrist (not just a family doctor) ; they are very well trained to figure out what your diagnosis might be. You wouldn't try to treat pneumonia with Vitamin C (or shouldn't). So you need to see the right kind of Dr. A psychiatrist would know exactly what kinds of medications to prescribe for you, and you would be amazed to see yourself feeling better. There's no reason for someone like you, obviously distressed, to keep on feeling the way you do.
Having a mental illness is very common, and society is beginning to see it as the legitimate sickness that it is. It is critical that you find a psychiatrist (your Dr. can refer you, or there are good community mental health centers) ASAP. Sometimes these things can get much worse without treatment. Take care, and please find a Dr. who can help you. And if you're having trouble dealing with problems in relationships, at home or at work, find a good therapist to talk these things through with. I recommend finding a good cognitive therapist - cognitive therapy is very popular now because it is highly effective and sometimes short-term!

Don't beat yourself up over it b/c everyone goes through rough times. You could be suffering from depression. I never had problems with depression until about 2 years ago and it seemed to come on me out of nowhere. And it was weird b/c nothing in my life had changed or given me a reason to feel depressed. The truth is, depression can be triggered by certain events but it can also just be a chemical imbalance in your brain. If you keep feeling this way for more than 3-4 weeks you should probably go and see a doctor. I was diagnosed w/ having depression and anxiety and my dr. put me on Lexapro which treats both. Since then I have felt SOOO much better. Just go talk to your physician and they can figure out something for you. You can give meds a try and see if that will help.
Good luck!

i think for any of us to try and help you we'd have to really know more about you...if you are in your teens it could be regular hormonal issues, or maybe something emotional is actually going on, or something even stressful, which may be triggering your seeming depression. For now, I suggest staying by the ones you love and just trying as hard as you can to look at life in a positive light. I truly believe there is a silver lining to every situation. But like i said, it could be something that we don't know about that is triggering it. I know from experience that rapid weight loss makes you depressed, but for now maybe get a journal and write all of the things in your life that make you happy! :) don't worry, everything will be okay!! smile and be happy!!

Everyone gets emotional sometimes. It's normal. It may happen often to you. Some people are very emotional. Perhaps there has been something going on or happened in the past that has made you so dramatic.

How long have you been feeling like this? How old are you? These are two important things I would have to know before I could give you good sugestions. It could be hormones, something going on in your life, even a good change can cause stress. Get ahold of a counselor as soon as you can and talk to them about it! Good luck!!!!
