The Book of Mormon, II Nephi 29:6 states “Thou fool, that shall say a Bible, we have got a Bible and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?”
Can you note the FOOLS are the only ones who trust in the Bible? Read verse 10. Here, the Book of Mormon declares the need for more revelation and makes way for its own existence! 2 Nephi 29:10
Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.
Should you trust Joe??

Matt: your exa. of the kiss falls short. This is a Middle Eastern custom. You can't apply Western ideas to Eastern mindsets. What I'm speaking of in the BOM is clear error. If I included the verses in text, who would want to read it all? Therefore any verse quoted could be considered "out of context". So, yes, you have to be careful, but we're not talking about a Holy work such as the Bible. We're speaking of Joe Smith's writings that have been supposed to be "another testament of Jesus Christ". And, yes, I am a Christian, but I don't appreciate the fact that Mormons carry around their book with the Bible and claim the two can coexist peacefully. They don't. It would almost be better, for the sake of not confusing others, that Mormons leave the Bibles behind because they don't believe most of it anyway, and solely carry BOM. Of course, it is my desire that Mormons would put their trust back into the God of the Bible and the "traditional" Christ of the Bible.

hibby76: What I'd like to ask you is that you read the BoM with a critical eye and you will find the errors as I did. Ponder the clear differences between its message and the message of the Bible. The BoM has tried to update the Bible, and the Bible needs no update. God doesn't change and when you think about it the world hasn't either in the sense that we are all sinners from beginning of time. Many Mormons have allowed themselves to be spoon fed/ brainwashed and not stopped to think about what they believe.

clever--however if the book of mormon were truly Divinely inspired, it would not contain such an obvious slander of the Bible.

I actually have read the book of Mormon (along with several other books by different groups).
When one takes into account the history of Smith - the tablets - along with everything that was going on with the group that Smith was starting - the believeablity just isn't there.
How many times have the edited their supposed 'inspired' writings? More than most Mormon's know of - and easy to find out - just not from Mormon sorces.
A simple look into the court history of those involved will be a massive red flag if one is thinking of getting into such.
No archaeological evidence to support any of their claims - which is totally opposite of what is found when one looks at the bible and the evidence that supports it.
Honestly - does it really matter what the book has to say about the bible when considering the facts?

Obviously everyone is free to have their own interpretation, but when I read the words you quote I don't come to the conclusion that the Book of Mormon calls those who believe in the Bible fools. Rather, the scripture appears to be calling people fools who believe that God does not reveal truth to people other than that which was revealed in the Bible. This has nothing to do with Joe, but whether you believe the heavens are open or shut, whether God is a respecter of persons.

First of all, this isn't a question.
However I will respond. The real question is "Was Nephi (the author of that text) the Author and was he a prophet chosen by God." If he was a prophet, then you're ridiculing God and one of his chosen. If he wasn't a prophet, then carry on.
Have you read the book of Mormon with and open mind and heart? Have you prayed to God to find out if the Book of Mormon is true with a sincere heart and complete humility? With the attitude of you want to do Gods will, regardless of the consequences (ie..possibly becoming Mormon)? Have you prayed to god until he gives you an answer?
Have you taken "Moroni's Challenge" in Moroni 10: 3-5
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the btruth of all things.
Why is it so hard to conceive that God called prophets on a different continent??? Why is it hard to believe that Christ ONLY visited the people in Jerusalem after his death?
Go have a chat with God and let us know what he tells you. Be humble. Be sincere. Be ready to change your life if God directs you to, and you will get an answer to your prayer.

old testomony New testomony yet another testomony The e book of Mormon settles each and every question Christianity is split on - operating example: The position of baptism. Who does it. How. what's to be reported. who's to be baptized. at the same time as are they meant to be baptized. the courting of Jesus to God and the Holy Ghost contained in the Godhead the courting between faith, works, mercy, grace, justice, repentance Covenants with reference to the homestead of israel contained in the finest days How the sacrament/eucharist/communion is to be administered - how, with the help of who, at the same time as, what's to be reported - issues that were lost for hundreds of years with the demise of the apostles - and that are hinted contained in the bible, yet are not responded therein. Its translation of the e book of Isaiah differs from the bible, yet is an analogous because the useless Sea Scrolls translations of an similar. It makes in many circumstances going on the covenants of God concerning Christianity on the yankee Continent, or the covenants with reference to the land its self, to boot as includes prophesies with reference to the yankee Revolution, the discovery of the Americas, the Savior's delivery, and the upward push of the Lord's Kingdom contained in the finest days, and distinctive warnings with reference to the corruptions of governments earlier the 2d Coming of Jesus Christ - that is an awesome e book! This and many extra issues are what are contained in the e book of Mormon: yet another testomony of Jesus Christ. it really is the reason the e book is so effective to Christianity.

Listen anything taken out of context can seem bad. In fact the entire book of Mormon supports the bible as do all mormons who study it reguraly and do it to better their own lives and be more christlike You however are obviously not a christian and only out to destroy beliefs. Want a statement out of context lets see. Luke 22:47 Judas...drew near unto Jesus and kissed him. Look the bible talks about how it is okay to be gay and kiss men....Now you see how easy that is to twist the truth and take things out of context.

The book of mormon demonstrates that man will exert a tremendous amount of effort to avoid dealing with God's law. As a popular work of fiction it unfortunately misled a lot of people.

Isn't it interesting how supposed ancient americans knew a greek word ("bible") without ever having made contact with the greeks?
Funny, huh?
Oh, wait -- perhaps Joseph Smith just *wrote* it himself! AH, yes, that would explain it. :)
Peace.
