"A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days" Isn't this woman Virgin Mary?

Which Church is the true Christian Church? If it isn't the Catholics neither the Orthodox, would that signify the Protestant?

Revelation 12:1-5
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars with child [singular]

Genesis 37:9-11
And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

According to how Jacob himself interpreted this:
Sun = Jacob (Israel) [Rev12 woman: clothed with the sun, identified by her clothing which is Israel]
Moon = Rachel (mom) [Rev12 woman: standing upon]
11 stars = 11 brothers [Rev12 woman: crowned with the 12 tribes of Israel (their father). We see the 12 tribes identified with the doorways in and out of New Jerusalem as well. (Revelation 21:12)]
A great wonder (sign) in heaven a woman:
Clothed with the sun - The 12 tribes of Israel were borne through Jacob, their father. Being clothed with him is like an identity for the woman. When you see the woman, clothed with her father, Jacob, it represents all of his literal seed, the Jews, what we call the nation of Israel.
Moon under her feet - Genesis 3:15 prophesies of the coming Messiah through the seed of the woman. (It is the man who has the seed) The lineage of Christ actually came through the woman, Mary, and in the symbology of this woman in Revelation 12:2, being Israel, shows that Christ came from the nation of Israel. Revelation 12:2,5 Christ, the man-child was born of a virgin through the nation of Israel, the tribe of Judah. He was bruised by Lucifer (the cross for our sins) and Christ will crush Lucifer's head (his ultimate defeat in the end). I believe the woman standing on the moon demonstrates this relationship of the woman as being the foundation of the nation of Israel and the fulfillment of this prophecy.
Crown of 12 stars on her head - The 12 tribes of Israel are also represented as the 12 pearl gates into New Jerusalem. I believe this is because salvation came through the Jews, and so we must pass through their gates to enter the city. Proverbs 4:7-9 speaks of a crown of glory and an ornament of grace. Psalm 103:1-5 speaks of crowning with loving-kindness and tender mercies. Also, in Genesis 49 is Jacob telling the 12 sons "that which shall befall you in the last days." Genesis 49:22-26 specifies Joseph's prophecy of the blessings of Jacob being on the head of Joseph, the crown of the head. The crown (stephanos G4735) symbolizes a badge of royalty. So it would seem that the 12 tribes of Israel are the glory of Israel and rightly so since they are her beginnings.
More on how this may be connected to Rosh Hashanah - October 5, 2005

She brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron
Psalms 2:9
Thou [Yeshua] shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Revelation 19:15
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he [Yeshua] should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Revelation 2:27
And he [he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end] shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. *We are fellow heirs with Christ, not the other way around. The prophecy of Revelation 12 is specifically talking about Christ being born through Israel and being caught up to God.

The Meshiach Nagid was prophesied to come from the lineage of Israel along with other prophecies that place Christ being born of a virgin and of Jewish lineage. Indeed, all of our scriptures are Jewish and Romans 11 is quite clear on how important Israel still is to Him. He is also the "seed of the woman" not having had the seed of man to be conceived.
Genesis 3:13-15
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Now this all fits perfectly and we see more clearly using all of the scripture and spanning all of scripture, from beginning to end, that the Meshiach Nagid would be Jewish. The prophecy of Revelation 12 clothes the woman with the symbol for Israel as seen in a vision by Joseph and recognized as symbolizing himself, his wife and 11 sons by Jacob. I didn't have to interpret anything with my own conclusions, the Bible did it all. That is a more sure foundation on what these symbols mean.

The woman is the

TRUE,

church as opposed to the

FALSE,

church found in Revelation chapter 17.

My explaination, you might not understand. If not it takes a child of God to truely understand. I am also trying to give you the basic and quick explaination of your enquirry without confusing you.

The sun is the New Covenant and the moon is the Old Covenant. The stars stands for the ministers of a church, in this case God's church. When she gave birth was the day of Pentacost and the first group of persons were born into her (the 'Church') The church went forth conquering and to conquer. But when the apostacy happened the church became obscured by Romanism. This did not happen over night, but over two and a half centuries (roughly around 270 AD); so that by the time the Papacy rulled, and the world was in total spiritual darkness. I do not remember how the 1260 days are calculated but after John Huss and others, there was Martin Luther

NOT

Martin Luther King Junior,

BUT

Martin Luther. Reformation was beginning.

No the Mary is not the woman spoken of here.

Post Script: I hope I have not totally confused you. Or was it clear to you my explaination?

No its not the Virgin Mary...Its the TRUE CHURCH!

Revelation 12:17 And the dragon (Devil) was wroth with the woman (church), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed (people), which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

1. It will appear and do its visible work after it emerges from the wilderness in 1798 (Revelation 12:6, 13-17).

2. It will teach the same truths the apostles taught, and all of its teachings will agree with the Bible (Revelation 12:17).

3. It will keep the Ten Commandments, including the Bible Sabbath (Revelation 12:17).

4. It will have the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 12:17; 19:10).

5. It will proclaim God's three end-time messages with a loud voice (Revelation 14:6-14).

6. It will be a worldwide movement (Revelation 14:6).

7. It will teach the everlasting gospel, which is salvation through Jesus Christ alone (Revelation 14:6).

In addition , John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments.

Revelation 19:10 I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The 1260 days is where the church goes and hides until 1798. If you go though history, you find out that Christian were killed for their believe such as the Sabbath and etc.

The only Church I know who have these qualities is Seventh-Day Adventist. Catholics have some but not all and bapists too. But i feel that seventh-Day Adventist have all these quaility.

As much as I dislike cutting and pasting I am on my way to work and can't dedicate a lot of time to your answer.
Many commentaries will have good stuff to help you in your search.

The big argument among Bible teachers is this.
Who is the woman of Revelation 12?
Is she Israel? Or is she the Church?
A word search through the Holy Scriptures gives us the answer.
Both are true!
Christ is the Head of the Church.
He is also and Head, or Messiah, of the nation of Israel.
Our apostle Paul lays out the sequence of end time events.

The deliverance of the Body of Christ will come at His Second Coming.
The completion of the delivery of the Man-child will be seen.
It will come in the great harvest Resurrection and Rapture of "those who are Christ's at His coming". (1Cor.15:20-23) This will be at the Resurrection-Rapture.

She is Jerusalem above, God's heavenly organization of spirit creatures. The son she gave birth to was God's Kingdom, with Jesus as it's King. The 1,260 days was three and a half years, from the spring of 1919 to the autumn of 1922.

3 For the first time, John beholds a woman in heaven. She is, of course, not a literal woman. Rather, she is a sign, or a symbol. (Revelation 1:1) What does she symbolize? In the inspired prophecies, women at times represent organizations “married” to outstanding personalities. In the Hebrew Scriptures, Israel was spoken of as a wife of Jehovah God. (Jeremiah 3:14) The woman John here sees is also married to someone, and she is about to give birth. Well, later her child is “caught away to God and to his throne.” (Revelation 12:5 - Jehovah thus claims the child as his own. Therefore, the woman that John sees must be Jehovah’s symbolic wife.

About eight centuries earlier, Jehovah had addressed this symbolic wife, saying: “All your sons will be persons taught by Jehovah.” (Isaiah 54:5, 13.)

The apostle Paul adds the final piece of information when he says: “The Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.” (Galatians 4:26.) The “woman” seen by John, then, is “the Jerusalem above.”

5 Exactly what, though, is Jerusalem above? Since Paul spoke of her as “above,” and John sees her in heaven, she is clearly not an earthly city; neither is she the same as “New Jerusalem,” since that organization is the bride of Christ, not Jehovah’s wife. (Revelation 21:2) Hence, these 12 stars seem to indicate that she is an organizational arrangement in heaven, just as ancient Jerusalem was on earth. Jerusalem above is Jehovah’s universal organization of spirit creatures that acts as his wife, both in serving him and in producing offspring.

6 John sees this woman as being robed with the sun and having the moon beneath her feet. When we add her crown of stars, she is completely surrounded by heavenly lights. God’s favor shines upon her day and night. What a fitting symbol of Jehovah’s magnificent heavenly organization. She is also pregnant, enduring labor pains. Her cries for divine help show that her time has come to give birth. In the Bible, labor pains often symbolize the hard work needed to produce an important result. (Compare Psalm 90:2; Proverbs 25:23; Isaiah 66:7, 8.) No doubt labor pains of this kind were experienced as Jehovah’s heavenly organization prepared for this historic birth.

The apostle Paul sheds light on the matter at Galatians 4:21-31.

In this passage the apostle speaks of Abraham’s free wife and of his concubine Hagar and says that Hagar corresponds to the literal city of Jerusalem under the Law covenant, her “children” being the citizens of the Jewish nation. Abraham’s wife Sarah, Paul says, corresponds to “the Jerusalem above,” who is the spiritual mother of Paul and his spirit-begotten associates. This heavenly “mother” would be also the “mother” of Christ, who is the oldest among his spiritual brothers, all of whom spring from God as their Father.—Hebrews 2:11, 12

It would follow logically and in harmony with the Scriptures that the “woman” of Genesis 3:15 would be a spiritual “woman.” The “woman” who brings forth God’s spiritual sons, God’s ‘wife’ (prophetically foretold in the words of Isaiah and Jeremiah as cited in the foregoing), would be made up of many spiritual persons. It would be a composite body of persons, an organization, a heavenly one.

This “woman” is described in John’s vision, in Revelation chapter 12. Satan is shown later as persecuting the “woman” and making war with “the remaining ones of her seed.” (Revelation 12:13, 17) The “woman” being heavenly, and Satan by this time being hurled down to the earth (Revelation 12:7-9), he could not reach those heavenly persons of whom the “woman” was made up, but he could reach the remaining ones of her “seed,” her children, the brothers of Jesus Christ still on earth. In that way he persecuted the “woman.”

do no longer understand why, rather. The dragon is obviously devil. devil needs Jesus destroyed. So the son is obviously Jesus. that would desire to make the female for sure Mary, being that she is Jesus' mom. The Jews or Israel, or the different form of issues being the female do no longer make experience simply by fact none of them gave start to a son. this is purely anti-Catholics wanting to denounce giving honor to Mary via any potential a possibility, IMO, whether meaning mendacity.
