i have my PPL and rent 152's and 172's from a local flying club. these planes get abused alot, especially the 152's and i dont want to do a good landing and then the wheel falls off and i might have to pay for it or something, i know they have an insurance but i think it only covers the engine and maybe the airframe, also if you break something they say you would only have to pay double your deposit fee ($2000), still sucks. is the aopa insurance reliable and isnt it about $90 a year

Aircraft renters insurance is not very expensive regardless of the insurance company. I would say check around. Avemco, AOPA, any aircraft insurance company. It won't cost much and could help if you aren't comfortable without it. It also would cover additional liability that might arise (besides the aircraft) should you have an unforeseen event.

I would recommend one to try this internet site where you can get rates from different companies: http://PROTECTIONQUOTES.NET/index.html?src=2YAkvd5Ivki1

Specifically, check into "non-owner" insurance. I know it's really reasonable at AVEMCO; didn't check others, 'cuz AVEMCO's was so good. Plus, they're a direct underwriter, not a broker -- there's a better direct link to the company, and I figure there has to be a savings in there, too. There are many good brokers, but the only place to get AVEMCO insurance is from the company, directly.

unless you are judgment proof, it is the best $200 a year you can spend.
