I know Dale Sr. fans are EXTREMELY loyal, but FORD?!?!? Come on, even Sr. fans would bail on that sinking ship if they sold out to Ford, wouldn't they? I'm don't want to argue about if they will or not but what if they did.

And would Jr fans be able to stomach him in a Ford?

Sr. fans should know (which i am definately not) but he drove Fords for two years, so maybe it wouldnt be as big of a deal as you think. However if Junior went it would be a huge shock, and trust me. Chevy will not let him go without a fight. I am a Ford fan, but with the money and image invested into Jr. I dont think that would happen. I think he would end up with RCR sticking with Chevy long before he would drive a Ford for any team

It would suck that said Yates can build a hell of an engine. Jr has said he wont drive anything but a Chevy. People are saying if they do switch to Ford he will race for some other Chevy team and he get partial ownership in DEI still (like Sr did with RCR and DEI).

If anyone is a true Dale Sr fan they would know that Dale Earnhardt Sr's first ride in an actual NASCAR race was a Dodge..Not a chevy. And that Dale Sr actually prefered a Ford Thunderbird to the Chevy. It shouldn't matter what car they drive. You cheer the driver..not the car. Besides Yates isn't ready to take a backseat to anyone. Yates is looking for a better sponsor..like menard's.

Senior fans will not, Chevy fans probably will. I think the Junior Nation will follow Junior to Ford or anywhere for that matter. It just depends. I think it may be a good thing for DEI. With 4 Ford teams running Yates engines, they could probably contend with Roush for #1 Ford team. Even if they are #2, they are #4 on Chevy's list.

Yes Sr fans will always remain loyal to DEI & Theresa. Sr used to drive a ford so there is no issue.

Who says that just because Yates might merge with DEI that they would switch to ford and not use chevy. I heard on the weekend broadcast that if Yates merged, then Rousch would have the only ford teams? But to answer your question, yes they would stay loyal. Once a die-hard fan, always a die-hard fan.

Senior's very first racecar was a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria owned by David Oliver and sponsored by Dayvaults Tune-Up and Brake Service in Kannapolis NC. His dad, Ralph, built the engine. It was pink with a purple top.

Dale also drove a Ford in Cup for a couple of years for Bud Moore. There is a web site supported by Ford fans in tribute to Dale and his years in a Ford?

He drove a Pontiac in 1981 for Rod Osterland.

Dale, early on at least, didn't give a hoot what kind of car he drove as long as he was racin'. I believe his long contract with GM had something to do with him staying a "Chevy man" all those years.

Ralph, "Mr. Consistency", raced Fords and Pontiacs in the few Grand National races he ran. (now NEXTEL Cup division)

** "Ralph Earnhardt, the quintessential race driver whose career spanned 23 years of competition in NASCAR Modified, Sportsman and Grand National series, won more than 350 NASCAR races..." **

Ralph was using racing to feed his family so if he didn't build it, (usually built Chevy's for himself) they raced whatever car was handed them.

Ralph was a great car builder and for the vast majority of races in which he competed, he drove what he built. He built for others as well.

Junior is a hardcore Chevy man. He won't even sit in a Ford. Probably because his Dad's worst 2 years were in a Ford.

So the Earnhardt family has a long connection to Ford but whether Junior would stay with DEI if they switched to Ford, I don't know, probably not.

No doubt, some fans would bolt, but I don't think it makes that much difference to the average Junior fan. We would like to see him win. If he can win races and finish ahead of certain drivers in a Ford, I'm for it.

If they leave because of the car he drives, they weren't really fans to begin with.

Earnhardt fan here, don't care what kind of car they drive. I haven't pulled for a driver based on what kind of car he raced since 1971. Brand loyalty in cars is OK, but as far as I'm concerned, if the choice is limited to Ford, Chevy and Dodge, I will pass, thank you very much. Pull for the driver as the car isn't going anywhere without him.

Do you think the Ford fans would stop booing Gordon if he switched back to Ford 16 years after stabbing them in the back and twisting the blade with 77 Chevy wins?

Fans will not have to worry about that because it ain't going to happen and junior will not drive a ford. They would have to do the deal before the month is up because if they do not give junior majority ownership by the end of the month then he is going to leave anyway. But if they give him ownership the ford deal won't happen

NOT A CHANCE Dale Jr. drives a ford, no way he counts on RCR being able to match the horsepower of Hendrick. No way does Jr. deserve to be 51% owner of DEI when he didn't invest ANY money in start up.
Start your own team Jr. , HMS can give you great engines. Stay AWAY from RCR and please make your own name in this world by starting YOUR OWN TEAM. The time has come to move on, away from Dad's shadow and show the REAL fans of Nascar just what you can do.

AND STAY AWAY FROM A FORD (Found On Road Dead).
