I jokingly say that I'm the unluckiest Catholic in the world: I have bad knees, and I hate fish.
However, now that I'm in a wheelchair whenever I have to walk any distance, life has gotten easier. No more kneeling, and the priest or the Eucharistic minister comes to those of us in the disabled section.
I still get a good spiritual workout, though. Just because I can't kneel on the outside, that doesn't mean that the inside isn't bowing in adoration of God, Jesus, and the Blessed Sacrament.

Some people refer to it as "pew aerobics". I'm a Catholic, and am more concerned with the spiritual aspects of the Mass than the physical. However, I'll admit that there are times when the kneeling actually physically bothers my knees. However, Christ suffered crucifixion for me, so I have no right to complain about kneeling for a while. Truthfully, I've heard people talk about how much standing and kneeling there is, but to me, it's not really that excessive.

Any calories you may burn with all of the movement will be regained when you drink the communion wine. The host wafer is actually plastic, so there aren't any calories in that, but a shot of alcohol can easily contain 80 calories. That's a lot of kneeling, standing, singing, and handshaking to burn that off.

I get very tired at mass, esp. since I have two toddlers. It's tough on the knees going up and down with a toddler on your hip. LOL
But seriously, the benefits of Mass are spiritual, not physical.

Yes, for starters. One thing's for sure...you can't fall asleep at Mass.
But the important part is the work out you soul will get! That's the reason you go!

First you get down on your knees
Fiddle with your rosaries
Bow your head with great respect
And genuflect, genuflect, genuflect
