bird guano is not a problem if you don't eat it, or play with it.
the bird flu is not easily transmitted to people. The ones who have gotten it, are those that work with birds closely, like those who raise the animals, or those who slaughter them.
Just be mindful of frequent hand washing and don't handle wild or dead birds.

I'm no expert but I do know there is funky stuff out there. I think there has been reports of a flesh eating virus that is practically not curable at the moment but that case might to have something to do with fish or sea gulls.

Unless you're ingesting it or coming into VERY close contact with it, I wouldn't worry - you're much more likely to contract a disease from the person sharing the bird-crap-covered bench with you.
