As I do not know what part of the world you are in. I suppose a trip to the grand canyon or Niagara falls is out of the question.
Do you have a river or something like that near you. a nice trip on a boat down the river. that would be nice or just a nice walk in the park or how about returning to the church where you were married and make it a sort of annual pilgrimage.
Hope this helps.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

we don't know where you live but if you live near the ocean that's a cool inexpensive place to go...do have kids??if you do get a sitter... or if you want to be really inexpensive make your home into a romantic get away candles, rose petals, order in a romantic diner, bubble bath...make it about what you both really like ...every anniversary is special and you will find over the years you will have special times and little things that mean nothing to others but spark memories for you two..do something for him that will mean something to him ..and as long you both know you love each other and show each other in your own ways..then you are all set..if you are outgoing people do an amusement park..if your sentimental take that day to volunteer and give back to your community that day...what ever you choose if you are together it will be special

We didn't have a lot of money either when my husband was planning our 1st wedding anniversary, but he found a deal online that gave us a hotel room, 5 course meal in your room, a movie and breakfast in the morning. It was fantastic and very memorable. You can browse online or just call your local hotels and ask if they have any room packages that include meals, etc. GOOD LUCK!

Your geographical location would've assisted w/this answer! Otherwise, you can have a 'blast' in the city you're in! Scope out a beautiful Bed & Breakfast, plan a romantic camping trip complete w/tent and fishing poles and candles! Stay at a friends cabin or time share. Be Creative!!! Congratulations!

our son and daughter in law took us on an alaskan cruise for our 50th wedding anniversery it was the most wonderful trip. I don't know how much it cost because they paid for everything. I didn't think I would enjoy it because I have a lot of aches in cold weather and I thought it would be cold but the weather was great and I felt good all the time. I thought I would like a warmer climate but it couldn't have been better just right weather. congradulations and good luck.

I'm not sure where you live. So go to a huge firework display like St.Louis or New York. You know what I mean? The display is free. Get a room and enjoy.
