I place all my salad items (tomatoes, olives, onions, lettuce and so on) into an over sized bowl with lid and gently shake until all mixed.

You take two large implements, such as big spoons, or a big fork and a spoon, get them at the bottom of the bowl, and bring them up sort of quickly. (Don't flip them out of the bowl, though.)

Lather, rinse, repeat.

The idea is to mix everything up all together, and coat all the veggies and whatever with the dressing.

You're sort of tossing it into the air, but not WAY up in the air. (You want your bowl to be bigger than the stuff in it, so you have room to work, without getting salad all over the house.)

You're trying to bring the bottom stuff to the top, so other stuff can be in the bottom, and so the dressing is running all over everything.

Boy, it's easy to SHOW, but hard to describe.

You could watch food network for a while until you see someone doing it.

Everyday Italian often has salads.

Just don't put too much energy into the "toss" -- you're just trying to move everything around, not redecorate.

I don't toss it at all. Just put the lettuce in and then all the colorful veggies right on top. It looks prettier. Shake the dressing and pour in a spiral. Leave the dressing on the table. If someone wants more, they can help themself. (Most people prefer the dressing on the side anyway. They like to control their portion of salad dressing.)

This is a rather... delicate chore. Start with the salad as is, untossed. You'll want to thouroughly cleanse the salad before beginning any tossing.

Once the salad is clean, select a dressing, either jelly or syrup (peanut butter can work if you are feeling extremely adventurous).

Apply a generous amount of dressing to the salad, mostly in the middle of it. Although it may seem a bit unorthodox, at this point, you'll want to get as much of the dressing off of the salad as you can. With your mouth.

Simply put all the prepared ingredients, lettuce, tomato, cucumber onion etc into a bowl , puur on the dressing of your choice e.g. Italian, French, Olive Oil etc and mix together using a large wooden spoon and wooden fork, or whatever utensils you have.

take a bowl and put on top of the bowl that has the salad in it then hold them together really carfully and shake the heck out of it and it always works except that you have an extra bowl to wash good luck
