If you cannot afford the dog, you may not be able to afford the vet bills that can come with a tiny dog.
AND there is NO SUCH BREED as a Teacup Chihuahua...it is a scam to sell dogs for higher prices. The AKC and the Chihuahua national club do not have a Teacup size.
There are small Chihuahuas. But many are being bred strictly for money without any of the proper health or genetic testing. They can have bad knees (patellas) or other expensive issues.
I would say contact your local AKC Chihuahua club and learn more about the breed and see if they have a rescue. Also check petfinder for Chihuahuas needing homes. Educate yourself so you can get a healthy, happy dog that will stay healthy and keep you happy, regardless of size.
Many so called Teacup dogs grow up to be quite large....backyard breeders often don't understand genetics or how to evaluate puppies to know their adult size. I've seen oversized dogs that had been sold for high prices as a Toy/Teacup breed.
And learn to spell the name, so you can google for info.
regards

There is no such thing as a "teacup" chihuahua or in any breed. Unfortunately there are backyard breeders who are breeding small dogs to smaller dogs to produce what they can claim to be "teacups" so they can attract buyers with the idea that they have something "special". This is an unscupulous practice because, responsible breeders breed to preserve & improve a breed as described
in a written standard. Breeding to emphasize a single characteristic (i.e. smallness of size) compromises the integrity of EVERY OTHER characteristic and the result is an unsound, incorrect dog. These dogs are very fragile and unheathy and a type that no responsible breeder would breed!
All, in all the practice of breeding so-called "teacups" or "minis" is a dangerous corruption of the breed .

They will be pricey, they are cute but have lots of health concerns and are costly to keep healthy. Good luck with your search. You may find a smallish Chihuahua on petfinder.com for a reasonable adoption fee. Maybe not teacup but definitely one that is in need of a loving home.

First off, if you want one, you must know how to spell it. Secondly, what are you calling "too pricey"? A Teacup Chihuahua will probably run between $700 and $1300. If you get a "cheap" dog, then you are probably getting what you paid for "a "CHEAP" dog".

Sweetie the smaller you get a breed the less healthy they are.
Don't try to get a puppy that will grow to less than four pounds.
I use to breed Chihuahuas and know from experience.
