I'm looking to buy a mountain bike. Is it silly to buy a bike with 24" wheels instead of 26"? I want to buy a used bike, and most of the 26" bikes I find are way too big for me. I'm 5'2 with a short torso. Would a 24" bike fit me?

It would fit but I don't think that it's neceassrily appropriate. At 5'2" you are well within the range of adult sizes - 26". You should probably take a 15" frame or somewhere around there. In 24" you are not likely to find much that is good quality.

Find a well stocked Specialized Bike store and test ride a 15" sized frame mountain bike, like a Rock Hopper etc. and go from there. Good Luck!

Yes that would work, I use a 24" bike, but I'm only about 4'11".
