Why not purchase a small block of charter hours from an aircraft management company such as NetJets, Tag Aviation or Jet Aviation, and see which provides you with the best service. This will also give you the opportunity to "try on" several different aircraft types from various manufacturers.
With this charter time under your belt, you can then compare prices, service levels and aircraft ammenities and make a more educated decision.
Don't jump into anything without first testing the water!

There's a new class of jets that are coming out that are more affordable. Most people still can't afford them, but affordable is relative.
Here's an article I found on light weight jets:
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/TRAVEL/03/31/private.jet/index.html
I had a co-worker that was looking at the eclipse 500. It's a private jet that holds a pilot, co-pilot and 4 passengers for just over a million.
While that sounds like a lot to me, it's half of the next best.
You might want to consider contacting an aircraft manufacturer. They might have a list of possible leasing agents as well.

There are two big firms that do a fractional lease or allow you to buy time. Net Jets has been at this for years. With Net Jets you can purchase a portion of a plane. You can arrange a lease for any type of jet you think of. marquis jet has a similar service, but allows you to purchase flight hours. These are flexible and are designed for people who will not use the jet as much.

You have enough money to "buy or lease a private jet" and you're asking for advise on this topic on Yahoo Answers. Looks to me like you need a personal assistant to handle all these trivial issues life has to offer. Just tell me where to send my resume and when to start. I'll figure all of this out for you! I'm not cheap though.

If I were in the market, I'd buy into NetJets. They have a "Marquis Card" that you can get for as little as $119,900 which allows you to have 25 hours in one class of jet. You simply call them and tell them which one of over 4,000 airports you want to be picked up at with a few hours notice, and they'll pick you up and whisk you to wherever you want to go.
The Marquis Card is a great way to try before you buy. And NetJets is the company that Warren Buffet bought into, so he thinks its a pretty solid, stable company.

Be rich or have enough B.S. to convince the seller that you are.
