Sorry, but that isnt much info.
Why does it have to be a certain breed? Are you a show trainer, a breeder? I can understand size, there are many reasons for that, but you shouldnt reject a dog because of breed.
You could look up the humain socity, they often have hundreds of dogs of all sizes.
Most bred, or hybrid dogs are going to be at least 500$, but if you can settle for a 'pound puppy', it is likely you can find a 3 or 4 breed mix with a small size, and more then likely, a better temper then a purebred.

Check out your local PetSmart or Petco - they do adoptions from pet rescues on Saturdays. You can also check out www.petfinder.com.
Going through rescue groups not only saves you money, but is so much better for the dogs. They get saved from euthanization, get good health care, and are loved... Also, if you go through a pet store, you may very well be getting a "puppy mill" puppy who's been overbred and has many genetic defects.
One last piece of advice - try and relax a little on the breed restrictions (but keep your weight restrictions), and look more at the temperament of the individual dog you're looking at. You might be ruling out a fantastic dog!

I agree with everyone else. Go to an animal shelter. 25 % of all the animals in animal shelters are purebred, and they have little dogs. They really have everything. I have to wonder how you lost your other two dogs. Did they die or did they get lost? If they got lost, I would suggest getting a microchip so that you don't lose your next dog. If they died, then go to a shelter and save a life!

i think maybe you should wait a little while, if you have only just lost your dogs you might want to wait instead of getting a new one straight away.
Anyway, you can often get dogs in local shelters, but you dont get small dogs turn up very often, if you look on the internet they do have shelters for certain breeds of dogs, its just finding them. good luck

I would still try your local humane society. They usually have at least 40% pure breed at any given time. Also, if you know what kind of dog you want, you could call the humane society and let them know what kind of dog you want and they will then call you when they get one, or they may know of one at another animal shelter. You can usually get a dog from a shelter for under $100 so try it.

Contact a breed rescue group for the type of dog you're interested in. Also, check out any local rescue groups or pounds. You will have to make a donation, but it will NOT be $300.

Hello & sorry for your losses, thing I wonder most tho is why or how did you lose 2 dogs .. so if you get another ..they don't get lost or worse..die or get killed.. you have to be ready for an animal .. when your ready & can afford a pet, do some homework & make sure you can keep them safe as possible..then check out rescue centers for specific breeds or adoption centers, animal clinics..etc..just be ready for your next pet ..spay or neuter is another way to keep pets safe or they often take off when it's breeding season which can be deadly as well..Take Care :)

Check out Petfinder.com. You can find every breed there. There are so many wonderful dogs that need great homes. I got both of my Chihuahua's from that website. You should have no problem staying within your $300 budget.
I am sorry you lost your dogs. I hope you find another precious friend!

If you lost 2 $300 dogs, what makes you think you'd want to risk losing another $300? Adopt one.
