I do not consider myself a "christian" or anything near resembling one.. But I would like to know why monotheistic religions war with each other? Isn't it within your own bible that whenever "two or more are gathered in my name". Does it matter the name? Does it matter the traditions of each denomination? Or is your God a different one from the ones that the Lutherans or Baptists, Catholics, Islamic, Buddah, etc.. Is it not a God of Peace? And Love? And Divinity? Or is YOUR God different? (BTW I'm not speaking of extremists either) But every day religions.

Monotheists consider the identity of God to be very important and further, the implications of one's trust and allegence carry eternal consequences.... however, peripheral doctrines within a religious belief can usually be reconciled...

First...we are Christians, not monotheists. The other groups you mentioned...Islamics, Buddists, etc...are not of the same world belief as Christians. The simple fact, the one that connects us and sets us apart from others is that we believe that Jesus is our Savior and that we are saved through Grace.

Second...we do not war with each other, in fact, we make considerable effort to come together under those things we have in common (as Christians).

Third - Yes, it matters what denomination you belong to or if you are Christian Catholic or Christian Protestant because our denominations have different dogma. Some of us...perfer to affliliate with a church the accepts personal beliefs and some of us prefer not to belong to any particular denomination. There are important differences is the sacraments we believe in that would be vital to the denominational beliefs.

Fourth...I speak ONLY for my own personal Christian beliefs other than that which is well known about the different denominations. Yes, God is a God of peace and love for the Christians...I do not speak to extremists either.

There is only one God.

If you are in a family and have relatives that live in California and Tennessee and Maine, but all have the same last name and ancestors...are your houses all the same, do you name your children the same, do you all have the same job, do you always agree, do you all believe the same. Yet, yes, you are still family. The same is true for CHRISTIANS.

Obviously you are not a believer in any world belief system or you would know this. If you truly want us to all get together and be the same, do you have any clue of the power that such a group would represent in this world. You believe we run things now...imagine what it would be like if what you propose was true.

Not all wars are about religion. In the American revolution both sides followed the same religion.
In the first world war, the British and Germans were singing Silent Night ( Stille Nacht ) to each other from the trenches.

"my" speaks of ONE person: Jesus. that's just logic

traditions, I don't mind what your traditions are, as long as they are not sinful and I am not judged as sinful if I don't practice them.

the muslim Allah and God Almighty aren't the same by Christian persepective. the muslim faith teaches that the jews and christians had corrupted God's word, so it was given to Muhammed by Gabriel the archangel. However, Allah (not the translation of God into Arabic, the entity described) does not exhibit the same characteristics as our God. I see Allah more as an ideology than even and entity, but that's just my opinion.

Buddhism is atheistic

yes, my God is set apart from all idols or concepts. And no, God doesn't expect the world to be peaceful. He gave man free will to do what He wants, even knowing the consequences, and it would be wrong for Him to take away our free will as beings.

and btw, muslims and jews are also monotheistic and don't use the Bible.

Mainly because, historically, religious leaders held a lot of power in government (and still do in certain places), and would use religion as a reason to invade and expand their empires. People were more strongly religious (they had to be, less they be branded as heretics), and could easily be convinced that a people following another religion was just cause to attack.

I agree with you entirely. Jihad is exactly to do what u have mentioned here. Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) once said that ultimate Jihad is the Jihad against Nafs (ego), do not be greedy and unjust. Always be loyal to your spouse. That is the ultimate Jihad. Jihad makes us realize our high self which is full of peace, justice and tranquality. While when we are in the lowself we are opportunists making us think that we are self sufficient which gives us feelings of anger, jealousy, hate, sepratism, self-rigtheousness. Therefore we should always try to be in the high selves. To be in the high selves we should not have hate for a single human being but just love in our hearts. Only then we achieve peace of Mind.LOW SELF COMES FROM DEVIL'S WHISPERS, HIGH SELF COMES FROM THE POTENTIAL GOD WANTS US TO REALIZE. Only people who realize there higher self go to heaven. The peace u have here is the peace u take with u.

Their God burns people....my God ...Jehovah does not.
They say all of them are going to heaven except the real bad ones....My God Jehovah says only a select few will go.
They have a God that is on a cross still and they pray before this icon.....My God Jehovah says for us not to be worshipers of icons and that his son Jesus is already a King in heaven.
Their God forbids men to marry thus setting them up for every perversion known to man. My God Jehovah says an elder should be the husband of one wife having children in subjection.
Their God wants them to blow up innocent people...My God Jehovah says Do Not Kill.
Their God shares his church with a flag and patriotism and sends their young children to sacrifice to the war god.
There is no flag in the Kingdom Hall and our children believe God when he says it is wrong to kill.
Their God winks at wrongdoing in that the sinners, adulterers, murderers, thieves are welcome at their churches and can remain in a favored position as deacon, priest, preacher while doing their sinning. My God says to go through the steps immediately to correct the problem and if they will not stop , remove them from the congregation. Do not even greet them.
My God is God.

all religions seem to think that their god is The God. . . bit like people saying red cars go faster than blue cars. at the end of the day its just a matter of an individuals opinion on the dogma they choose to believe. and quite indicative of how the human race has got a barefaced cheek to consider itself civilized.
a couple of world wars, endless regional wars throughout history and continous attempts at racial and cultural genocide seem to back up my case.
but its just my opinion of course and unlike a religion i dont intend to ram it down anyones throat.
happy days!

Because monotheism requires a belief that the god of the individual is the ONLY god.

It's very silly.
