Go to the media. Invite them in to your home and tell them your side of the story. Hell, crooked cops make better headlines anyway!

I don't see the media providing a retraction based solely upon your say-so that the police did not find drugs in the house or that drugs were not purchased in the house.

It's been my experience that somebody always comes forward to say something about a situation and truth be known that person was not even present during the situation.

Though you've provided very little information, experience tells me that the police have notified you that during the course of an investigation, they've learned that SOMEbody is selling drugs out of your house. That doesn't mean YOU or members of your immediate family are the target of the investigation. However, have you considered that maybe a visitor has been observed making sales while you weren't paying attention.

It's easy to claim "crooked cop" on a forum such as this, however, it's my belief that most intelligent people would question issues involving only rumors, inuendos, and one sided statements. In the investigative business it is known that every story has three sides....yours, theirs, and the truth!

If the police have indicated drugs were being sold...this is a felony offense and an immediate arrest is not required. A case, in my jurisdiction, of this nature is normally presented to a Grand Jury before a warrant is issued.

The police do not control what the media prints or reports. If the media made a statement that is incorrect, your issue is with the media...not the police!

Best wishes!

Get the paper to print a retraction. However, reputations are fragile things. My friend's son was arrested and charged and photographed for a newspaper at the same time. The charges were dropped but the paper was not to blame because there had been charges at the time the photo was taken.

The case is before our Human Rights Commission as it was clearly a racially motivated arrest. (Police were searching for a youth in a hoodie and arrested a 40-year old man in a business suit). Guilty of being black while waiting for a train.
Can he ever regain his reputation?

You can always try to get a lawyer at a legal clinic to contact police to issue a statement to the press.

The best thing to do is wait it out. If what you say is true, it will all come out in the end. When that happens, expect an apology. If not, you need to. By applying pressure on the police or trying to save your name in the media before the facts are out will only make it harder on you. If you are cleared I guarantee the new paper will write a retraction in the paper and if you push hard enough, they may say it on TV.
