a fellow Christian to pray for them to God?
Everyone born of God is a Saint.
As Christians, born of God, we can come boldly before the Throne of Grace in Hour of Need, 24/7. To the Father God, through faith in Jesus shed Blood.
Why is that so hard for a Catholic to understand?
They are praying to fellow saints to pray to God for them.
Please answer both questions.

Lab girl, Thanks.
Christians do ask other Christians to pray for them, but to agree with them in prayer. Not to go to Jesus for them (instead of them). As Christians we are to pray to God ourself & ask others to agree in prayer with us. Jesus said that where 2 or more a gathered together in my Name there I Am also. So all are agreeing & praying to Jesus or Father God together.

Penny, If you aren't a Saint, then your sins aren't atoned for yet. It is Jesus Christ shed blood alone that covers our sin that we are born of God & can pray to Father God directly.

You're right both times, even geometry says that the shortest distance between two points it's a straight line. So we should pray to God himself.

You just made the point the Catholics make to people who ask them why they ask Saints to pray for them. It's the same as asking fellow Christians to pray for them. I'm sure you've participated in prayer circles.
The only difference, in a Catholic's mind, is that Saints, being exceptionally moral and spiritual people and being physically (Hello! they're in Heaven!) close to God, have more influence in their prayers to God. Same for Mary; she has the most influence because she's Jesus' mother. He'll listen to his mother. :D

Catholicism is one of the oldest Christian sects, and there is something you need to understand about Christianity in the Ancient world. Paul was a Greek and extremely influential in the development of Christianity.
There is a theory in religious studies that the bigger and more universal a God gets, the more remote He gets, and the harder it is to reach Him. In order for His followers to reach Him, they need intercessors: priests, saints, etc.
This happened both in the ancient Greek religion (called Hellenism) and in Christianity, because not only was Paul influential, but so were the many Greek converts to Christianity. I believe that this is why there is such an emphasis on priests and saints in Catholicism. Protestantism doesn't have this, because it came about during the Renaissance and was influenced by Humanism.
Although you both share a faith in Christ, you're coming from two fundamentally different worldviews. Once you understand that, it may be easier to have a civil dialogue about your beliefs.

Of course Catholics realize this! Why don't Protestants realize it? If they do realize it, why do they have such a problem with asking the saints in heaven for their intercession? It's amazing how many Protestants use the Apostles' Creed as a statement of their beliefs, yet have no idea what "the communion of saints" means. It means the interaction of the saints on earth with the saints in heaven!

Wow. an similar kinds of issues have occurred to me - i presumed i develop into the purely one. i'd say go away the e book on my own. There are some belongings you play round with and some belongings you do not. Evil spirits have all kinds of recommendations for finding out to purchase at and to us so perchance it really is one. attempt calling Jesus' call each and each and every time something like that occurs . now and again when I attempt i can sense something - per chance palms - protecting me down thoroughly and overlaying my mouth so i cant call on him. Then at the same time as i imagine it (his call) and attempt to cool down and not in any respect imagine about the actual undeniable actuality that i cant breath (it makes you panic) "it" is going away. i have had all kinds of issues take position to me contained in the useless of the evening at the same time as i'm the purely soul wide awake that i can't clarify and scares the hell out of me. do purely not ignore that no demon in hell may even stand the SOUND of Jesus' call and that he's the purely thanks to conquer such circumstances. God Bless you and that i advise it. stay possibility-free honey

It is good to join your prayers with saints, but people who are on this earth cannot be saints until they are dead, and declared so by virtue of their life, which would be examined, and proof of at least 3 miracles.
As much as I would like to be declared a saint before I die, I would just think it would be pure arrogance on my part. My faults are many. My faith is miniscule. Do you think I can walk on water or feed 5,000? I can barely swim and my kids are the only people who will eat what I cook.
That being said, I strongly believe in communal prayer as one greater than singular prayer. To join myself with the righteous is what I do. Observe my words:
"I unite myself with the saints in heaven, I unite myself with the just on earth, I unite myself with you, my Jesus...." I say this prayer before I begin my prayers. Is this a bad thing, my darling little one?

I think you are getting into perhaps a variety of beliefs. I am no saint by any means and would feel totally unworthy to carry a message to God. Once you are raised in a faith it is hard to change your own beliefs.

I can ask you to come and fix my sink, or I can ask a plumber.
I'd choose the plumber, because of his training and his experience.
Same thing with the Saints.

It's not the same--Saints are dead!
They cannot understand it becaue they don't believe it. part of it is choice part of it is conditioning. For example, their definition of Saint is different than yours.
Anyway, eveyone should just pray to God themselves. -- He listens to us all.
