i know Leviticus states that being gay is an abomination.( the text is misunderstood).but in the same text it explains that eating selfish is an abomination and a ticket to hell. (WTF)Leviticus is a holiness code written 3,000 years ago. This code includes many of the outdated sexual laws. It also includes prohibitions against round haircuts, tattoos, working on the Sabbath, wearing garments of mixed fabrics, eatin pork.

so if i ever wanted to eat shellfish during that time..GUESS what! i would go to hell...it's ridiculous....

MY POINT IS THAT IN THE TEXT OF Leviticus..IT STATES ALL THAT CRAP ABOUT PORK AND SHELLFISH..BUT THEN IT TALKS ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY..ISNT THAT A LOAD OF CRAP..I AM A LESBIAN AND I CONSIDER PEOPLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT EXCUSE AND USE IT AS A WEAPON AGAINST GAY PEOPLE...

Don't feel bad... I'm dead meat 'cause I accept the TRUTHS of SCIENCE over "Christ" (yeah, they really wanna KILL ME!)...

BIBLICAL DEATH PENALTY: (part 34) KILL UNBELIEVERS - 2 Chronicles 15:12-13 (NIV) … They entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.

That Scripture is part of OT law, not written under the dispensation of Grace we live under now. The Apostle Peter had a dream of a giant "napkin" as the Scripture calls it, being lowered to the ground near him and when the corners were untied, there were a bunch of clean and unclean (edible and non-edible) animals running around on it. God spoke to Peter and said, "Arise Peter, kill and eat". Being a good Jewish man, he said, "Nay Lord, for some of these are unclean". God replied, " Arise Peter, kill and eat. For what I HAVE MADE CLEAN, call thou NOT UNCLEAN, and what I have made UNCLEAN, call thou not clean." You're right about one thing. Had you disobeyed those laws back then and died in your sin before the next Passover, you would've gone to Hell! The Law was kept as a part of the Bible to show us the IMPOSSIBILITY to please God through trying to find salvation in a written law instead of by grace and blood sacrifice! Thankfully, as long as we obey the plan of salvation written out in the NT and live a sanctified life thereafter, thanking God for everything he gives us the ability to get in life, then we can have our shellfish and still get to Heaven!

Oh you who have never lived to surpass the Old Testament!!!

Have you not heard that there is a new Testament and our faith is in IT.......

The new testament states -- not to let anyone judge you according to what you should eat.. what you should drink, not by a new moon, or a sabbath......

you will eat what you will.... Because is it what you must... you will do what you must... because we cannot all live by the stringent ways of the old sabbath laws..... Jesus didn't always and he told us why.......

Those who are stuck in the old testament.... still do not believe that the Son of God has already been this way and has passed this way and has risen anew..... We follow......

Where are you?...... come up out of that thinking!!! The old Testament is fulfilled!!!

Ginger

Ironically I just did a search for the word Shell and found nothing in the Bible. don't know what you're refering to, but the only reason you would go to Hell is if you don't have a personal relationship with Christ.

You're ridiculous, Melissa, and you shouldn't play in the adult sandbox of Biblical interpretation. That was about the most convoluted piece of 'exigesis' that I've seen, from someone who I (assume) is at least semi-sane!

The foundation of anti-homosexuality is not based solely on Leviticus, and in fact comes primarily from Romans, Chapter 1, which is quite clear on the matter, and well in force in this (temporary) church age.

I don't think anyone got stoned for eating shellfish

"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "
Matthew 15:17-20

Maybe not hell, but I'd be careful.

I was out diving this weekend and the shrimp have formed an alliance with the razor clams. I think they are plotting their revolution for later this month during high tide.

I don't know... Sounds like if your questioning it, you could be convicted by God not to partake of it.

BTW.. what God has condemned for one person he may not for another.

PS.. homosexuality is not only an abomination in the old testament but in the New testament as well!

I don't understand why its okay to edit the bible. Isn't the bible supposed to be absolute or something? I'm glad I'm not religious, sounds like a headache.
