For example: you're Chinese American. your parents are immigrants and gained citizenship but speak no English and do everything culturally Chinese. If China invaded our land with their huge numbers and you could grab a gun and fight, who would you be aiming at?

Well I am an American. However let's say the same thing but reversed.

My parents are American and they immigrated to let's say China. I do everything Culturally American, and I can't speak Chinese. America invades China. Who do I fight? I would fight America. I seriously hate to say that, but If I am a Citizen of a country I am going to fight with my country.

I would hate it immensely if the immigrants who gained Citizenship here in the US decided that they were going to start fighting against America simply because we are at war with their home country. If they wanted to fight with their home country, then I believe that they should move to their home country and show their support there.

America IS my home country. My ancestors came here from Europe as early as 1597 and each century after more from different places in Europe. So is my home country France where the earliest came from? Is it England, Scotland or Ireland where the next waves came from? Maybe my home country would be Germany where the last of my European ancestors came from. Some of the Germans were even royalty in Germany. Whoopty doo. What difference does it make? I am an American and to go to war with my own country would mean a civil war. We already did that once. We don't want to do that again. Ugly, very ugly.

My home country is the Untied States. My family came over at the turn of the century from Germany and Italy. My family supported and fought for the United States as did millions of other immigrants. It was your kind of thinking that created internment camps for the Japanese.

Well, I guess it all depends on how those "Americans" treated me. I mean, if I was Arab and was constantly listening to people calling me names like "sand******" or "towelhead" or "terrorist" and telling me to go back home, I'd probably find my home-country to be less insensitive.
If I was Japanese and locked in an internment camp simply because of where my family was from, I'd probably lash out against my captors.

So maybe instead of hating on the people who come to America with high hopes and dreams, we should work on making them feel PRIDE about being an American and proud to support the American Way.
Of course, if the American Way is bigotry, hatred, and selfishness, perhaps they're better off fighting for their own country.

The Democratic Party has gone to war with this the rest of the US. I will fight them by voting for another party.

Strange how they only have a back bone against those who will let them speak.

As for your example, I would shot the invaders.

I'm an American first.

But 'the Old Country' in question would not be a military threat that'd be easily taken seriously...

anyone that has gone thru the rigors of being granted citizenship will fight for their country. Check your history, there were alot of asian americans that fought the Japanese in WWII. Frankly, any americans, regardless of their race, that fight against their nation are traitors and should be shot.

If a Chinese person fought with the US in such a war then they would get hit by friendly fire (or not-so-friendly fire).

Also, if they were taken prisoner by china they would be in deep.
