Can someone please tell me why on some of the cars the TDI sign is red or only part of it is red???????

The letters stand for "Turbo Direct Injection"

Originally the least powerful versions had silver TDI lettering, the next most powerful has a red "I" , the next most powerful to that had a red "DI" and the most powerful had a red "TDI".
On the Golf IV all silver was 90bhp, red "I" was 110 or 115bhp, red "DI" was 130bhp and red "TDI" was 150bhp.
Recently they have used blue lettering on some of the less powerful models.

it stands for Turbo Diesel Injection, the red signifies it is a hot version eg Golf Gti tdi

the tdi stands for turbocharged direct injection,if just the t isd red this is a 100bhp model. if the td is red this is a 130bhp power model, if tdi is all red it is the 150bhp model

the people that mentioned the word diesel are incorrect. the D stands for direct.

Turbo Direct Injection=TDI

and the people that mentioned the colors are correct.
