I think you should get his birthdate and a dash and then forever
Like this:
9~3~06 - 4~ever
Or something. That showes that he still lives on.

Well first of all I am sorry for your loss. That must be very difficult. This is a very serious piece and I admire the fact that you are putting a lot of thought into it. How large or small are you wanting to go? You can always do there Chinese Zodiac animal and put them into a form of a yin yang. For example. If one child was a tiger and the other was say a dragon. The yin can be the dragon and the yang can be the tiger. You can have them blend together in an M.C. Escher sort of way. If your not familiar with him you should check him out he is real cool. You can also do the flowers that represent there year as well. If your looking for something real different find an artist in a book that you like. Like maybe one of the Impressionists. Van Gogh, Monet, or any other that is normally an image that isn't very clear but is general. Now you want to do your research on your artist. If you need to travel to do so. I highly recommend it. Find one that you like and you are comfortable with as well. I don't know if these idea's are your speed or not but I thought that they were cool. Oh and I agree with you I am so tired so seeing people with names on them. It,to me, has no flair or creative thing about it. Good luck with getting the work done and healing on your losses.

i'm so sorry for your loss. My son died only 5 minutes after birth on Aug. 9th of last year. It's a hard road, for us. I looked at many things and when I had an idea of what I wanted, the artist took it from there. You might want to talk to the tattoo artist who you want to use and tell him your ideas and he can custom make you one. I hope you find one you will cherish. Just keep looking. It took me 3 months.

I am very sorry for your loss.
The idea I had was maybe a crying angel? To do that with the detail that you want however, the tattoo will have to be significant in size and i would really study up on your artist to make sure you go to the best....

Blue medium sized baby hand or foot holding small cross twined with ribbon and small flowers. Your son's name and date of birth and death on the ribbon. Elegant and lasting memorial to your son.
I ve had several miscarriages and wanted a tatoo sort of in a charm braclet design with a small blue or pink heart with each baby's name that I lost. My husband is against the idea of tatoos, in general and its something that we fight about a lot.
Go for the tatoo.
It's a great idea.

i dont usually assist people on what tattoos to get, because in the end you have to live with it, but i think this is different then a rose or butterfly.
i have not lost a child, but I'm very sorry for your loss.
if you are a religious person ideas could include angels, and godly things. i like the idea of a full body portrait of your son with angel wings, done in black and grey shades, unless you want it to be colorful then i would get his eyes colored in done lightly (i.e. light blue, green).
but considering the fact that I'm guessing you want to remember him in life not in death, i wouldn't get the day he died, i would get his footprint with his name and date of birth underneath.
but you should also consider small things, because he did in fact live for 4 days and you took him home for two...try to remember if he had any qualities or unique traits that you care to remember.
my sympathies, and good luck.

I am so sorry for your loss.
You can add his name and birthdate to any ideas you come up with.
*angel wings
*the flower of his birthmonth
*footprints
*portrait
*angel, or an angel holding a baby, or a woman holding a baby angel
*incorporate the number 4 because he only lived 4 days
*find an inspirational quote that describes the situation/how you feel and have that tattooed on you ( I like "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die" - Clyde Campbell)

Maybe... An Angel hovering with extended wings, looking down at an infant cradled in her arms as if they are headed up together.. If you have a pic of your child, have the artist do a portrait for the cradled child... but remember...
Good tatoos are not cheap, and cheap tatoo's are not good...

Sorry for your loss. I have heard of putting getting baby footprints tattooed on top of your feet to show the baby is always close to you. I had a baby that I lost and I got the Chinese symbol for daughter tattooed in her birth stone color.

HI Michelle,
Sorry to hear about your loss, Did your son have a name perhaps something to do with the meaning behind the name that is symbolic in nature. If you write his name in details I can google around and perhaps get something you may like.
