We did take her to the vet. They thought that she had rabies. However, we didn't agree. They gave her some med's, she was able to scoot, but not walk normally. Now she is back to the same as before. She has not gained any weight and is very thin. She does eat, just not gaining. She obviously doesn't have rabies or she would have already been dead. We have also spoken to the county animal service and the SPCA. Just didn't know if someone may ave had the similar symptoms.

Presumably the vet offered another diagnosis after it became apparent it wasn't rabies? If not - take to another vet!

I've seen this before in a young animal. It was ricketts (bone malformation as a result of malnutrition). The cat was 10 months old, but was about the size of a 4 month old and could only scoot along the ground or walk sideways like a crab thanks to the deformity of his bones. He spent most of the time in a curled up position, he couldn't stretch out at all. He ended up being put to sleep after he developed renal failure as well - there was no hope for this kitten. He had been brought up eating tuna only, this was why he had not developed properly.

Now I'm not saying your cat DOES HAVE ricketts. I haven't seen her! But it's a possibility. I also met a young staffy just today who had been brain damaged as a pup - he couldn't walk well at all, he could get around but with a very strange movement of his limbs, and he had some behavioural problems like random growling. But I'm not saying your cat has this either!

Take the cat to another vet to find out what is going on here. It doesn't sound like something that will be easy to diagnose, so don't give up on them if they don't hit it first time. If you haven't been back to the first vet since they said 'rabies', go back to them again - or at least phone them to tell them they were wrong!
