The bibles also condemns eating shellfish and wearing mixed-cloth fabrics.
It is not a very fine guide for living in the 21st century.

How old are your sons? Don't you have to be a certain age to get a tattoo? If not I don't really know how you can stop them from getting them if there determined to get them. You told him about what it says in the Bible (Im not sure what your refering too) but the best you can do is to be honest and talk to them, don't preach it's such a turnoff, was to me anyway when I was young, actually made me want to do what I wanted even more. The other son that already has 3 tattoos, they aren't in places you can see, like when he wears a t-shirt. I don't know if this would work, but remind them about this and this tattoo stuff. Ask them if they are still playing with any of the toys they used to have when they were 5 years old. Ask them if they are still reading the same books they did in grade school. Or asking for the same kind of things they wanted at Christmas time, or birthdays when they were little. And why aren't they. Because we grow up and our tastes change. And if they could visualize that tattoo on there bodies untill the day they died if they thought they would still love it as much as they did when they first got it. And they won't love it, and they might hate it. You can only try so hard to get them to see and understand...sometimes kids are just going to do what they want to, no matter how good or practical the advice. I'd check to see though if you have to be a certain age, and if your kids aren't find out where they got them done and tell the police. Other than that I'm fresh out of help. MLJ

If your son is over 18, then there is nothing you can do about it. If he is under 18, then he might need parental permission before he can get it down... find out what tattoo parlor he plans on going to, and check with them to see what the laws are, and make it clear to them that he does NOT have parental permission, and has forged whatever document granted it.

It hurts when they won't listen and are disobedient and have not been telling you things, that others know.
Kids are growing up quiker these days.
At least this son is upfront with you. I wouldn't discourage him angrily or he won't be so open with you next time.
So just pray for them in the background. And Love them.
Really Love them, as you don't have them for long and that speaks louder than any words!*

Really it's not a big deal. Let your children be independent. Tell them how you feel, that's fine, but also know that they need to think for themselves.
Just show a good example.
I personally am not against people having tattoos, nor do I see where it is a "sin." I however will never get one myself.

Don't fret. Getting a tattoo is not going to keep him from heaven. I have five myself...And I love God with my whole heart. As long as your boys are saved an are living a life that is pleasing to God...A little ink will not hurt them. Just make sure they know it is permanent and that they will be forever judged by others. It was worth it for me. God bless you.

Just make sure he's going to a professional place that cleans its equipment.
The bibles says no tatoos? Really? I never knew that. What passage?

You are correct about your beliefs in what the Bible says about this. I wouldn't worry about it though. I would just continue to pray for his soul, and place him into God's hands. That is all you can do. As long as their is someone like you praying for him the Holy Spirit will continuely work on his heart.

The verse from the Bible speaks about marking yourself in obedience to other gods.
Offer to drive him to a tatoo parlor and help him pick out a tatoo he would like. This will make him run.

Leave him alone, if he's of age and paid for it from his own pocket, it's none of your business. It's his skin, his money and not everyone subscribes to your interpretation of the Bible.
