Tell your parents that there are methods that will not damage your hair if that is what their worried about. If done by a professional ask for micro-ring or sewing (aka the weave). The hair extensionist will be able to blend your hair with the extension so that nobody will be able to tell you have them and the color will match perfectly.

I know you really want them for prom, but the after effects are lasting. They damage your hair permanently. How about putting it up and using a fall or hair addition instead? That's not damaging and much less expensive. Jessica Simpson sells a line of these, I think, and she always has pretty hair.
I wasn't talking about a clip. When I got married, I used a "hair" scrunchie. No one could tell it wasn't my hair. I made sure it matched. I'm with your parents on how bad extensions look. You can tell. What are you wanting to do with your hair that can't be done with the hair you have?

Well, I understand you want to have a new look, but if your hair comes to the middle of your neck it isn't THAT short. I'm sure it probably seems that way because you want it long for this special occasion. When is your prom? Could you earn the money between now and then to get the extensions yourself? Of course, you still need to get your parents approval, even if you are paying.

Okay first of all... are you paying for them? I'm a firm believer in letting kids express themselves and hair is hair it will grow back. Next.. what are your parents reasons? It cant just be that they don't like them. That is a good idea about a hair piece added on in an up do. Better to compromise than cuz an argument.

The most unanswerable response to adult censorship is to earn the money in a socially responsible way so as to pay for the extensions yourself. They may be mad at you but doing it this way shows maturity, which pretty much stymies them.

Mom, Dad, they're just hair extensions.

How about getting a fall instead? It's also called a 3/4 cap--it's when your own front of your hair shows but the back is fake. They are not cheap, but they don't ruin your hair and you get the long hair you want.

Tell them that you wouldnt feel complete without the hair extensions. Tell them that it brings out your face and compliments your dress.
