Basically is there a petition that can be done to stop them, criminal charges, or even treason of their own country?? I put Baptist and church in quotes, because it is debatable as to whether they are a church or not.

I am not saying that I would want to do something to them or hope anything happens to them, just a curiosity as to if anything can be done. Westboro is wrong---- God hates the sin not the sinner. Look that up!!

We could just ignore them.
They are media hounds, when the camera's stop, they leave.
It happened here, they picketed our churches, and when the news ignored them, and the people also ignored them they left 4 hours early.
Peace!

They're a "church" in terms of being tax-exempt. I believe most mainline Baptists (and most Christians of goodwill!) wince at the thought that the WBC folk in their speechifying might be mistaken as professing "Christian doctrine".
They're media hounds, and IMHO, bonafide nutcases. About the best thing I've heard: on some campuses and such, there've been pledge-a-thons----the longer the WBC folk protest, the more money gets pledged to local Gay/Lesbian pride/protection groups. Works for me....

That's Baptists for you. They have no hierarchy to keep them in order, and every church they have teaches different things. This sort of thing will always happen when a religious cult like Baptists have no governing body.

Yes there is a way and I wish not to get you into
trouble,
but you can go streaking in the buff around their church
and TP their church he he he
This would shut them up

The church is made up almost entirely of Phelps' family. There have always been nuts and fringe people.

Nope. They may be a hate group, but there is freedom of expression and religion in this country. I may not agree with them, but I defend on principal their right to their opinions. (Even if they are hateful bigots.)

Other than differing in extremety of belief, how are they different from any other religious group? They interpret their sacred writings in a specific way and attempt to live according to their interpretation. Are they schmucks? Yes: but no more than anyone else who believes in sacred writings, interprets them, and lives their life according to those beliefs...
Why not shut down Catholics while you're at it?

There has been an effort to "shut them up". There have been counter protests that intercept them before they get to a soldier's funeral.

Let them hang themselves. Eventually they'll do something illegal, and beyond that, they make a general fool of themselves. If you give a calf enough rope...
