in my experiences, it depends on who is giving the advise. if it is someone i admire and really think they know what they are talking about, then yes, their advise would be useful.
as for as effective....i think the point in asking for someone's advice is for their insight into whatever, so you are asking for their opinion....it doesn't mean you will do what they say or change your mind about something. i am not sure how "effective" fits in unless you mean if you followed their advice, did it work out the right way.....who know's??? you did one of many options and you have no way of knowing if the one you chose is the right one. you have to trust your own instincts and couple that with advice from others and make the best possible choice you can.

Advice is just that advice. You must remember that people see things in different ways. You need to listen to their advice and weight it and take what you need from that advice. Remember most older people have been through life and have made the same mistakes that you may be making and they give you the advice to keep you from making the same mistake they have made.

All your beliefs came from advise from friends and family . If any expectation about love and life is in error you can become severely depressed . If you are rushed through changes in life you are in danger. Be safe in a safe place. The winner circle is just that a safe place. The outsider gets bad advice in another vocabulary and is confused all over again.

One must seek advices from all possible sources. Pessimistic advices should also be not over looked after getting optimistic advices. final decision and the responsibility is of the advice searcher. never give advice unless specifically asked for. All advices are useful.

If the person receiving it is open enough to examine it and decide if it is good advice for them and then implements the necessary steps to put it into effect.
