All the hugely long cut and pastes from creationist websites don't answer the question.
The answer is that the vast majority of religious people accept evolution. All the major religious denominations and groups accept it. For instance, here's a list of 10,000 Christian clergy who signed a statement accepting evolution as valid:
http://www.butler.edu/clergyproject/clergy_project.htm
Similarly, the major Jewish and Muslim groups also accept evolution.
It's only a very small minority of Christians who think that the only way to interpret the Bible is "literally", and that if the Garden of Eden story isn't literally true, then their religion is worthless. Everybody else understands that stories can be true in a metaphorical sense rather than literally, and still be valuable.

From the point of view of my religious beliefs, I don't really care that much about HOW the Earth's eco-system came into existence, that is science's field of expertise. I'm more interested in WHY it came into existence and that is in the field of religion.
The theory that self-replicating organic compounds (life) came about purely by chance seems far too unlikely to me. The "life came to this planet on a comet" theory is just dodging the issue as far as I'm concerned.
The proofs of evolution are only as good as the analysis and ideas behind the theory, the strength of science is that it never claims to be infallible. Science cannot prove or disprove God's existence or involvement, so my religious beliefs remain unchanged by the theory of evolution or any other scientific theory.

Well molecular biologists consider that the genome is forensic proof of evolution. After all, less than 2% of nucleobase sequences are even involved in coding for protein production (a fact in of of itself which demolishes any notion of "intelligent design"). The rest is a fascinating record of fossilized genes (sequences with stop codes inserted) of our ancient ancestral species. Yet even with that ultimate proof of the evolutionary process, I still read of fundamentalists saying such things as "DNA disproves evolution" which is 180 degrees from reality.
Evolution can only be denied by the fundamentally dishonest or the fundamentally ignorant.

As a Wiccan, I see evolution as proof that the world operates on natural cycles that don't need to be anthropomorphised to be acknowledged.....or did you mean ANTISECULARISTS when you said "those with religious beliefs "
Edit: Darwin never denied his beliefs. He was a Christian and a believer in evolution his entire life. There is plenty of evidence to support evolution. If you disagree with evolution, FINE, but don't LIE ABOUT EVOLUTION.

Just wondering if you can come up with any proof surrounding evolution?

There is more proof to confirm intelligent design (creation) than the theory of evolution. Evolution is taught in schools as fact, but there is no concrete evidence to back things up. Creation is completely ignored, and those who belive in intelligent design are laughed at. There should be a balance and both sides should be presented equally, leaving the learner the chance to make an informed decision on which to believe.

There is no proof. Just evidence. Lots and lots and lots of evidence.
There are many ways a person could disprove evolution-by natural-selection. Many, many ways. The person who did it would be the hero of a billion people and the marvel of the scientific world. S/he would be very rich and very famous. Yet nobody's managed it yet. Funny that.

I am a born again believer and do not have a problem with evolution. The bible says that God created in 6 days. The same bible says that a day and a thousand years are the same thing to God. Does it really matter how God created or how long it took Him. It makes Him no less God.

As a Buddhist, i believe that the earth was created by evolution as i don't believe in a creator or a God. Therefore evolution is the only sound reason how the earth was created.

I'm afraid that that most religious people prefer to believe that all life was created by a supernatural being who stays in the background, watching everything and if they step out of line it will punish them.Sounds a bit psychotic to me but sadly, that's what they have been brainwashed into believing.
