Belief without proof.

Faith, in the religious sense, is belief in something in the abscense of evidence. That is to say " I believe in God (s), even though I can't explain why." In relation to reality, it needn't reflect objective reality, but it could. Faith can be based upon experience, perception, etc. Persistent faith tends to deny reality however, as when questioned it resorts to the unknowable (hence unreal), and becomes a statement like the above sentence.

Hebrews 11:1..........Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld

Faith is based on concrete evidence. The visible creative works testify to the existence of an invisible Creator. (Ro 1:20) The actual occurrences taking place during the ministry and earthly life of Jesus Christ identify him as the Son of God. God’s record of providing for his earthly creatures serves as a valid basis for believing that he will surely provide for his servants, and his record as a Giver and Restorer of life lends ample evidence to the credibility of the resurrection hope. (Mt 6:26, 30, 33; Ac 17:31; 1Co 15:3-8, 20, 21) Furthermore, the reliability of God’s Word and the accurate fulfillment of its prophecies instill confidence in the realization of all of His promises. (Jos 23:14) Thus, in these many ways, “faith follows the thing heard.”—Ro 10:17; compare Joh 4:7-30, 39-42; Ac 14:8-10.

I am an atheist and have come to this conclusion after studying religion very closely. I believe that we all have a right to believe what we want and to talk about it to other people, and that I also have that right. A lot of things that Christians say annoy me (for example the Pope saying people should not use condoms in AIDS infested areas) but I believe they have the right to say them. Jesus as a human being had a philosophy which is extremely sound. I do not accept that he was divine - in fact that spoils it a bit for me, because there is no kudos to doing what he was doing if he was a god, but his sacrifice and opposition to the hypocrisy of religion are more admirable if he was merely human. Again my point was that many Christians don't exactly follow his word - the Pope living in a big Palace for example, or hating homosexuals.

I am an atheist, but i do have a spiritual leaning towards certain moral and ethical codes that 'religion' has tried to make 'us' all abide by. Sadly, religion has been under the control of 'man' for far too long and the original messages have been abused, lost or altered to fit the biased views of small minded control freaks! As an atheist i do not believe in 'gods' or 'messiahs' - but there is a lot to learn from the basic principles of any faith.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It relates to reality because it is the only thing you have to have to get into God's heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ did the rest for us. He died for our sins, He was buried and took our sins away and He rose again the third day for our justification. Put your faith and trust in that and you to can enter into God's heaven. Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Faith is belief is something you have never seen, never witnessed first hand. Dogmatic religions which discourage their member from exploring matters of the spirit world require faith. I've done some exploration of my spirit and inner tools, so I know it's there. The same can be said for anything. I've never seen atomic particles under a neutron microscope, but I've heard of others who have. That is second-hand knowledge and thus requires faith. No one has ever actually witnessed the long-term process of evolution, but there is mountains of evidence that point towards it. That, too, is a matter of faith, kinda.

The definition of faith can be open to interpretation. It can be a belief in yourself that allows you to grow confidently as the person you are.
It could also mean faith in a deity of some kind, whether the faith be based off upbringing to believe in the deity, a personal 'spiritual' revelation, or something else.

Faith is, in my opinion and many may not share it, is a defining part of self. You don't have to have faith in any particular religion to have a faith...for you can have faith in yourself, faith in your friends and family and even faith in your country. To have faith in something is to believe in something, anything, so whole-heartily and completely that it's not easily dissuaded.

I've recently discovered that alot of life is just open to interpretation. Nearly everything seems to be a variable depending on the person.

Faith is the proof...of the reality..of what we hope for......

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation)
the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

It is Impossible to be pleasing to God without Faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

Faith is believing in something that cannot be proven...whether is a God or a person or an idea. Your reality is beyond my understanding...in mine...nothing ever becomes fact unless someone first had faith that it would.
