As a former pastor's wife, I can say with authority that most churches are Christian theater.

There's arguments on both ides of the fence on that.
On one hand, traditionalists claim this is NOT worship, and it's NOT church...it's just a show.
On the other hand, supporters say it reaches people that would otherwise not be reached with the message of the Gospel.
Personally, I think there's a time and place for it. I think the mega-churches are aimed at what they call "seekers", and I think the biggest problem is that once a seeker has decided to accept Christ as their savior, there's nothing after that. The mega-churches need to work on developing the spirituality of people after they come in.

I've never thought of it like this, so I am grateful for your opinion on that.
Frankly, I am opposed to Mega-churches because they lack the intimacy that you get from home or small churches.
I personally don't know how effective the mega-churches are in drawing people to Christ, in a real and meaningful way.
But yes, they do get people there, for sure.
Thank you for the question...it was a good one.

In My opinion no it is all a matter of personal taste and they way ppl chose to worship. Alot of churches are stuck in tradition and they are also dying. We are dealing with a different world than the way it used to be we have to change with the times and keep the love of Christ ALIVE. What worked for our grandparents 50 years ago will not work for the people of today.
No matter how many ppl you have in a church does not determine how intimate YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP IS WITH GOD

In my opinion...yes. However, unless you are forced to pay to attend they would not be for the sole purpose of raising money.
True Story - I went to a Passion Play at a medium (certainly not MEGA) sized church...denomination name withheld...the play was well done, well attended, we were offered communion...and no one passed the hat for donations.

Mega churches are like any political rally or other theatrical, propaganda oriented event: they allow the individual to get caught up in the cause by being surrounded by many others who believe the same thing, thereby encouraging belief without question. In other words: it is easier to get individuals to act like automatons if they are surrounded by many others who are unquestioningly doing the same thing. See Nuremburg or Mao's rallys...

I agree. Churches on TV get so ridiculous it looks phoney. They be wearin glitter, jumpin around like a crazy, women wear tons of makeup and hair weaves. If they love god so much, they would love the way he made them look and they wouldn't have to hide behind glitter shirts and a mask!

A lot of churches are admittedly quite theatrical. However, it doesn't really matter what they are if they don't focus on the basic truths.
