I've read that more and more American students have decided to learn Italian at school or at University. Why?

Maybe they want to travel to Italy and be able to interact with the locals, maybe they just like the language. it is beautiful.

Italian is a wonderful language. I learnt it as an adult and have never looked back.

Why study Italian - ?
Because you can make new friends.

Because when studying a language such as Italian you get to know your own better.

Because when you study Italian you discover a new civilization: the Renaissance Civilization.

Because you find out who you are only by meeting others.

Because knowing more languages expands your horizons, enriches your life and also improves your employment opportunities.

Because you know what you are eating in foreign restaurants.

Because when and wherever you try to speak Italian, you will receive nothing but praise and encouragement and you will soon discover that speaking Italian is a very rewarding experience.

You already know lots of Italian products and brands!

Fashion speaks Italian: Valentino, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Ferrè, Gucci, Ferragamo, Biagiotti, Krizia, Dolce & Gabbana ... as do 100 million people!!!

I am currently learning Italian at my school
I decided this because when I was in middle school there was only french and spanish
I didn't want to learn spanish at all because I just didn't like it
I decided to do french instead but I didn't like that at all either

In highschool we have recieved the option to learn Italian and I quickly jumped on it. I am not italian at all (100% swedish) but most of the kids in my class are very italian and they want to get to learn more about the language and culture

It is a really fun class and because of the high demand of students wanting to learn Italian they have added it into the curriculum in the middle schools here now!

Hope this helped

Like the first answer, it's a beautiful language and many people want to travel to Italy. I'd also add that unlike some languages, it's relatively easy to learn how to speak it because how it's spelled is how it's pronounced, for the most part.
