The links above will take you to three great sites: Benjamine Moore has a color viewer. You select the room you wish to paint from the viewer, choose the color from their color charts and the viewer will paint the chosen room so you can see it in a particular room. They also give examples of complimentary colors. It's really fun, but remember that the colors are a bit different than on the computer. You can order samples of the colors and they will mail them to you.

Behr paint also has a similar site and the paint can be purchased at Home Depot.

Ralph Lauren paint can also be purchased at Home Depot and some of the colors have small samples of the paint for you to try.

The color viewers are a lot of fun and you can mix and match whatever you like.

Want To Paint My House

I work for a furniture company, and I deal with a lot of decorating magazines & TV shows. So I can say with some authority that chocolate & turquoise are a hot color combo right now. Orange is really in style, too.

A good paint job should last more than 10 years. New colors will be out of style shortly after your paint dries. Look for colors that are suitable for the type of home you have. Look for colors that blend in with neighbors' houses, rather than stand out. No glow-in-the-dark lime please.

You obviously want to have something nice and what is your taste. Once style that is in now is painting 3 walls one colour, then the last wall (opposite the window or light source) a deeper shade of the same colour, or a complimentary colour.

I see a lot of that light sand color.

Especially in Vynil siding.

I don't know the specific name but it is a light brown almost tan.
Then they use a bright white trim and shutter combo.

Looks nice and clean

Well, first, what color is your roof? What color is your window trim? You have to choose a color that will "go with" those colors.
There is a house in my town that was just recently redone. It was painted a salmon color, with cream colored windows/trim. The roof color was brownish/salmon. It looks sharp!!
Earth tones will always be in style!! Taupe, cream, tans....

Check otu sherwin williams.com and look athe color visualizer. Use a muted tone of any color you like and it will work out fine. But do you have bricks or facia of any sort? Keep that in mind too.
