In the last 15 years I have heard tons of people say that their deceased love one is now and angel. Where does this believe originate. I am now Muslim and don't believe it. I grew up Orthodox Christian and we didn't believe that either but some people follow that concept nonetheless. I just wanted to know when it started and who started it. References would be great! Thanks in advance.

I never said muslims believe it --just a lot of Christians I run into... when you see interviews on TV so many people who proclaim to be Christian say this. I know what my beliefs are. I am looking for an intelligent answer with sources if possible. I may write a paper on this for a class --just testing the waters to see what info. I can find.

Also, I know not all Christians believe this!

I think is is just a silly myth that they used to tell children about death to make them feel better. Something like Santa.

Those of The True Christian Faith to not believe that.

you may have been "raised" by someone of The Christian Faith... but you were never a Christian... no one of The True Christian Faith has ever, nor will ever, become a follower of the deception that is islam. or for of any other "religion" that is an avowed enemy of God.... just because yourself. or some one else, may have called you a Christian dose not make it so... only God can decree any one a Christian... and if you had been so elected by God you would have known it and you would never forsake it.

I think it's something they tell themselves to ease the pain of loosing someone. Angels are messengers of God, like the Angel Gabriel who announced the arrival of Jesus Christ, he appeared to the Virgin Mary, Gabriel is know and talked about it the 3 big religion, Christianism, Judaism and Muslim. He is known to the muslims by the name of Djibril. (who says religion is not interesting!)

It is neither a muslem nor a Christian belief.Although the Mormon religeon might disagree.People basically believe what they want to believe whether it is right or wrong. No doubt all of us believe a lot of things which are not true.If it sounds good and it feels good or if our parents believed it we will be inclined to believe it.

Because its easier than the possibility that when someone dies, thats it. Lights out. Its human nature to take the easy path, or the path that grants most satisfaction.

We who are believers are saints.

We don't become angels, we become as angels.

Seriously, I think they just never really payed attention in Sunday school, so they think: angels live in heaven, so when you go to heaven you're an angel.

It's just something that the churches made up. In the bible it states that you stay in the grave.
