I think I am happier. I have no more worries about little things being a sin in the eyes of an invisible sky papa or that he is going to strike me down or send me to hell etc . My nerves are not nearly as frayed as they were when I was trying to follow the crowd. And I really feel silly for believing all that for sooooo many years. My life is much more relaxed now.
PS I guess I am Atheist since I no longer believe in God, Satan, Heaven or Hell

It varies to me.
I have Christian and Atheists friends that are happy as a clam.
I have Christian friends who are spending their whole life freaking out over the fact they don't want to go to Hell for anything. I know Atheists who do nothing but shoot down Christians and Pagans and anyone with a belief and really have few friends.
It depends.

Overall? It depends on the person. I see little personal happiness in people these days, whatever their philosophies are. The Christians are fearful and the atheists are angry. That is generalizing of course.

You do get joy, peace and love in the Holy Spirit in Christianity; I don't think that's available to anyone else, as the Holy Spirit isn't available to others.
But life can be a trial for anyone, depending upon one's circumstances. One must do one's best according to one's theist or philosophical resources to rise above any such hassle.

People will answer this question based on their perspective of life on earth and life after you die. I am a Christian who believes the truth, and I will answer you according to the truth of God, not necessarily my opinion. For truth is not opinion.
The most important word in your question is “overall”? It is not easy to be a Christian, nor is it easy to be an atheist, but true happiness does not necessarily come from what denominational label you possess or what circumstances cross our path. True happiness is attained when you have a reason for living, a purpose to life, so to speak. Once you obtain purpose, then and only then, can you have meaning. And if everyone is honest, we all want meaning. We want to know what we are here for. We all want purpose. Outside of God, there is no purpose or meaning. If we are to live as an atheist, then we assume the responsibility of figuring out life on our own, without help or direction. As a Christian, God gives you meaning, and sends you in a direction with a destination. There is a physical end to life here, but it does not stop. There is an eternity in either heaven or hell. As an Atheist, there is a physical end, but there is no way of knowing what happens next, and you’re left to lean on your own understanding or on the opinions of someone else. And I also am basing my eternity, my overall happiness, on my finite mind. There is security, comfort, peace, and overall happiness obtained when you “trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct they path.” His infinite mind knows what happens after you die, and knows how you may experience true happiness. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in they presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11
Christians are OVERALL happier.

In the short term, its probably atheists.
A life of fleeing responsibility can be appear to be enjoyable.
In the long term, it would be genuine Christians.
For now, they are like fish trying to swim upstream.
However, it seems the day is coming when all earth will be filled with genuine christians and that will make things alot better.

Some Christians are happy; some atheists are happy.
Just like every other group of people.

I really think it depends on the individual, not the religion.
But, I will add, that during my time as a Christian, I was always thinking about the afterlife....rather than focusing on living this life to the fullest.
