This takes a little while but it works. Ask him a series of outrageous question/accusations. Like "You have been wearing my panties, haven't you!" Be serious and note the way he answers the question. Make sure you know the true answer first. Or anything you know he is innocent of. Do this over a period of a few days. Now you know how he reacts when he is innocent of an accusation. Then ask him the cheating question. If he reacts differently... he may be lying. Or just ask him straight out, either way, trust your gut feeling. But don't go too hard on him- he is just a man you know.

You can probably really tell by his behavior.
Sometimes it's not that they are cheating, they might have other problems. Granted, most of the time they are, sometimes you might just be a little worried.
I think maybe you should talk to him. I don't mean like ask him directly if he's cheating but talk about your relationship. And maybe lead up to it or hint at it. But be careful, because IF he isn't cheating and he knows you think he is, he might seem hurt at the distrust.
It kind of just something you have to analyze yourself.
And don't "check up on him". That's slightly immature.

If your boy friend is cheating on you then you should turn of electricity. Opps you asked this question in Computer and Internet.
Anyway I answer you, If he is really a boy friend of yours and likes you then he will not do this. But as you said, so try these:
When he calls you do not take phone ignore few days
If you happen to talk to him talk about some of your boy friends, such as you went with them and enjoyed a lot etc. Just by doing this your boy friend will tell you the truth because there is no Man in this world who could stand his girl friend have another boy friend.
Give a try and you will like it.

Grab a shotgun and.....
If your on his PC, check his IM history, saved sonvo's, website useage history.. stuff like that...
Sign up to a site he uses loads under a false name and make a move on him.. whatever...
Just advice froma a techie.. I would advice asking him honestly and trying to sort the relationship instead of checking up on him though :) If he's really worth keeping, Its worth doing this right and talking to him..

If you think he is cheating, he is cheating. It never turns out to be paranoia.

Well, if he is, you could always reprogram him... wait, this is software, not relationship management. Anyway, I would check his emails, ims, and web history. Unless he's going to great measures to cover his butt, you'd be able to find some dirt, if there is any.

You can start by asking this question in the right place. This has NOTHING to do with software.
