Faith is believing in something that you cannot see, taste, feel or prove. For instance, I have faith that my house will still be standing when I go home tonight and my past experience has shown me that it will be. But there is no guarantee that it won't have burned down while I am at work.

Atheists have built an ideology founded on the concept that there is no god. Because this is something that cannot be proven that God does not exist in the body of knowledge not available to each person, atheism does require faith to believe in it.

So does it take more faith to believe that there is no God? That's a good question which I believe is unique from one person to the next.

No, it doesn't. I don't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or invisible teapots that orbit the earth, and I'm sure you don't either. But you wouldn't want to say that this disbelief is an act of faith equal to believing that these things do exist.

It's much the same for God, or for the gods of polytheistic religions.

I think an exception might be cases where people feel that they have personally experienced a divine being. In that case, it doubtless does take greater faith to disbelieve that the being exists. But I wouldn't want to say that it would take the same amount of faith as disbelieving, say, that one's best friend doesn't exist. That, I think, would take greater faith again for most people.

No. Cuz faith is all about trusting someone...but if u dont believe in God...then u r not trusting in anything, therefore u have no faith in anything.

To believe he doesnt exist is as hard as believing he does...but the hardest is believing one without doubt...for none can be proven true or false right now. And maybe they never will be proven.

Not really, you only need faith the size of a mustard seed to know that a bunch of christians praying will never move a mountain by voice command alone. As for believing that god doesn't exist, well, all you need is a pair of eyes that don't have bibles stapled to them.

Those damn bibles tend to block your view of reality, and thus you need "faith" that you won't run into satan, demons, or other vile, dastardly villians that other people can see are clearly not there.

I think it takes much more of a kind of "faith" to not see God everywhere you look in creation. You have to really clench your teeth and fists and close your eyes to "believe, believe, believe" that it all happened by chance, given the evidence for an almighty Intelligence that planned and designed things in such perfect detail.
But then you know what they say: the trouble with atheists isn't that they "believe in nothing"--it's that they'll believe just about anything.

No, It is easy to believe that there is no God...what is the definition of faith "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1) But by faith one can be saved from Hell through Jesus Christ.

Look around you. why do some people get shot in the worst ways and survive while some don't? Look at the sun, moon, planets. Why are some people rich then they become poor? Its a test from God. Life is a test. What do you think happens when we die? Why is it easier to do bad things as compared to doing good?

It is all willed by God and God gives you choices, opportunities and chances. Remember life is a test and we all account for what we have done on earth after we die.

Without a doubt, the answer is no.

BUT,

It takes more faith to believe God does not exist, than it does, to believe that God does exist.

Nope.

My "faith" that there is no god is very shaky, compared to a believer's faith.

The reason I say this is because I would change my prerogative the moment I saw even the tiniest shred of evidence that I was wrong.

Believers have mountains of evidence disproving their gods, but they won't acknowledge any of it. Their faith is more important to them than the truth.

No. Faith is one method of justifying belief. Information is another. Faith is simply the acceptance of some belief for the sake of the belief itself. Simply put, skeptics understanding the complete lack of objective facts supporting the existence of a personal, interventionist style god as the one supposed in the major world religions, choose to justify their belief with objective facts and reason devoid of faith.
