love for humanity

It needs no explanation

A faithless person filled with love for humanity would be a stupendous thing, but it's not really possible beyond the surface. The fact is that it is impossible to be truly altruistic at all times - even the practice of altruism is not truly altruistic since the practitioner is generally rewarded with both a sense of having done something noble as well as the admiration of society.

A loveless person with faith in God is a deceived person, and is thoroughly wretched. There are plenty of these, but they are ignoble.

Since I must choose, I choose the faithless person, though for reasons cited, I must say that they don't exist.

Sorry Loki. I don't believe 1 is possible, and I don't believe 2 is desirable.

In 1, you speak of a "faithless person". A person with no faith in anything will not place his or her faith in love, and thus will not love anyone or anything, including humanity.

However, placing faith in love is not the same as placing faith in a god. One need not be religious to have faith in love.

I'm sorry, but I cannot choose either of your choices. Were I to re-word your first choice, I would say "a person whose only faith is in love who is filled with a love for humanity". That choice I've already made, and would again.

Love is that which brings out the best in Humanity.

A faithless person filled with love for humanity... at least they will strive to live peacefully with others and offer help. Whereas I've known people who are filled with faith for their God and lack compassion, doesn't help others, are bitter towards everyone and usually end up alone because no one wants to be around them. I'll take the faithless person anytime over that.

A faithless person filled with love for humanity.

Why? Because if someone actually cares about their fellow human beings they are more likely to treat them with respect, more likely to do the right and honorable thing.

a faithless person filled with love for humanity.

Because you will know it is genuine. A loveless person filled with faith in 'god' may be too biased, intolerant and fanatical!

that's not a fair question because anyone with true faith in God cannot be loveless. God is love. therefore anyone claiming to have faith and does not show this by works of love is not a true believer and their example should be taken with a grain of salt.

so the only logical answer is a faithless person full of love. just because someone does not have faith does not mean it will always be that way or that God does not love them. remember that he is their creator.

A faithless person with love for humanity. Why? Besides common sense, in my eyes anyway.

You can love all God you want, but if you don't treat your fellow humans right, then you aren't actually acting as your God wants you to.

And a person doesn't need God to be able to find joy in simple human actions and interactions.

But why is it more honorable? Because humans are tangible, they are right here, right now.

A faithless, but loving person is much more honorable then a cruel but godly person. For instance I would not be friends with someone full of emptiness or hate just because they believe in God, especially since it wouldn't be very religious of them to be heartless, considering most religions promote love and peace.

Person filled with faith in Jesus is not loveless, so the second option is oxymoron.

It really depends on what you consider honorable. It is honorable when person is filled with love for humanity, but we all have faith in something so I do not see how faithless person would be filled with love.

First person is good for the earth, but loses their own soul.
Second person is bad for the earth and loses his or her own soul too.

The first person is more honorable, but they both share the same fate.

One's faith in God should produce genuine love towards others. Truthfully, genuine believers (not just all professing Christians, but those who by their actions prove their faith) always love others more than themselves.

That was a very good question, just really sad to think about.
