Depending on the state you reside, regulations vary on how to get a salvage/rebuilt vehicle, registered and titled. I would need more info than what you have posted, to answer your question well. Like, was this from a dealer, or private party, lienholder on title, didn't you get a title when you purchased the car? Many questions, so repost with more info.

Two questions
1- was it a person or a dealer?
2-was it on your paperwork that is was a salvage?

1-if a dealer, take the car back / if a person, to bad
2-if not on paperwork take them to court.

Sue the person who sold it to you. Paint a nasty sign on the sides and (tow it to) park legally in front of their residence or business. Ask yourself why you bought a car and didn't get the title at the time. And if you did, do you need to tell the police or district attorney about the person who gave it to you?
