Could the sensitivity be caused by something else? Or am I doomed to need a root canal? This pain is coming from a tooth that was just filled in March!! Thanks so much :0)

Thanks for all the input so far! I've been using Crest Sensitivity for a little over a week and it has helped a little bit. I also sometimes get a sharp pain when I bite down on just one tooth. What could cause that? I know I've asked this question a couple of times...I just want to see what kind of answers I get until I see my dentist on the 7th!

Root canals are a waste of money. I know at least 30 people that had root canals and not 1 of them has the tooth or teeth that they had the canal done on still in their mouth, and that was only after 3 years.

Sensitivity to hot and cold does not always mean a root canal is needed..of course you should seek an opinion from your Dental professional. Sometimes when I have had some fillings etc I have sensitivity too .

It could just be tooth sensitivity. Doesn't necessarily mean you need a root canal. But if you just had this tooth repaired in March, I'd see your dentist to find out what's going on.

No. My front teeth are very sensitive to cold things. Even cold air. You don't need a root canal.

You can get special toothpaste that helps with sensitive teeth.

I don't think so. Whenever I have something hot to eat or drink then somthing cold, it hurts.
Try Sensodyne toothpaste for a while, if it doesn't go away then talk to your dentist.
