I'm not a wiccan, but I know some about it. It would be considered a religion by most definitions of religion. I think your dad is wrong about that.

It is absolutely a religion. Evidently, someone doesn't have a dictionary. By the fact that religion are defined as a set of beliefs, almost anything can be a religion. He also has the right to be a Christian, as such, you have the right to be a Wicca. Religion is theoretics. Good luck.

Wicca is one of many pagan paths...it is a fairly young religion, but yes it is one.

Some people don't accept other paths/religions/beliefs that differ from their own as real or even "existing". But since there are many Wiccans and have been for decades, kinda hard to tell them their religion isn't a religion. They know it is, and that's all that matters on that issue.

Wicca is a religion, whether your dad likes it or not. It's not "just worshiping the earth" or "doing whatever you like."

It may not be a religion he wishes in his house, however, and since he pays the bills, he gets to tell you what to do within the bounds of the laws of your country.

Wicca will wait for you. I've been Wiccan for 20 years. We're not going away anytime soon.

Religion is, simply put, belief in a higher power and/or the supernatural. Wicca is definitely a religion, recognized not just by the definition itself, but by the American gov't as well. Maybe your dad doesn't recognize it as a religion in the same sense he recognizes his own or the Jewish belief or the Muslims, but it is certainly a religion.

A religion is a set of beliefs. It's a religion. It contains certain beliefs.

Wicca is a very personal religion that is very different from Christianity. It's your dad who doesn't understand it. That's okay. Parents are just people, we don't know everything!

Uh, your dad needs a dictionary.
Examine the following definition of "religion", taken from Dictionary.com

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

I don't think he particularly has the right to tell you you do not understand your own religion. I do not think however that two years makes you an "expert" by any means. Blessed Be.
